Frank tries to do better as a father while at Parent Night for Bill and Maureen's school. Sue wants to get Kevin into a program at school so he can improve his grades. Vic turns 30 and gets rehired at the radio station.

- Eskimos Aren't Real: While on a magic mushroom trip, Kevin hears a bust of Huey Long in the trophy case speak and says, "Huey Long? You're a real person?"
- First Day of School Episode: The 1974-1975 school year begins; Kevin is now a sophomore, Bill is in 6th grade, and Maureen is in 4th grade.
- I Can't Feel My Legs!: When Principal Morgan falls off the stage after he gets out of his wheelchair to prove his doctors wrong, he exclaims that he can't feel his arms.
- Innocent Swearing: After Frank charges into Mrs. Breckman's kindergarten classroom and shouts, "You don't know what the fuck you're talking about, lady!" Anthony and the other kindergarteners start repeating the word "fuck".
- Mushroom Samba: After Kevin takes some magic mushrooms, he starts hallucinating the trophies coming to life and yelling at him for screwing up his chances at getting into the Dimlights Program.
