Barnes goes on a dangerous undercover mission involving an ambitious gang leader who is plotting turf wars and massacres across the Bronx in a bid for more power.

Tropes:

  • Blood-Stained Letter: The team recovers a murdered stool pigeon's phone. The last photo he took shows a hand drawn map. On seeing the map is bloodstained, Jesse realises that this map was on the table when the gang was massacred and was taken when by the killer when they left: creating the void on the table.
  • Costume Copycat: After murdering her boyfriend Ty, Cleo Wilkens wears his distinctive gang jacket and a motorcycle helmet when carrying out a massacre of members of a rival gang to make it look like Ty was responsible.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Jess persuades a member of Cleo's gang to inform on her in exchange for getting his brother moved to a prison closer to their invalid mother. When Cleo discovers this, she coldly puts a bullet in the back of his head. The final scene of the episode shows Jess making good on his promise.
  • The Heist: Cleo's planned big score is to knockover a rival gang's stash of drugs and cash.
  • Human Shield: When the FBI catch Cleo in the middle of her attempted heist, she grabs Sandra and puts a gun to her head.
  • Lady Macbeth: Cleo was the driving force behind Ty's rise to power in the gang scene. When he decides he wants to go straight, she kills him and usurps his place as head of the gang.
  • New Old Flame: Barnes encounters Sandra Coates, a woman she was involved with when working undercover with NYPD, and takes up with her again to get an 'in' with Cleo's gang.
  • Stealing from the Till: Sandra, a nurse's aide, is stealing anti-seizure meds from the hospital where she works Cleo, who has epilepsy and, as a wanted felon, cannot risk visiting a pharmacy.
  • The Stool Pigeon: Jess persuades a member of Cleo's gang to inform on her in exchange for getting his brother moved to a prison closer to their invalid mother. When Cleo discovers this, she coldly puts a bullet in the back of his head.
