That's not the mummy they were expecting.

Carter: It's all fun and games until someone gets cursed.

An opened sarcophagus unleashes a plague onto those who opened the tomb, and when it threatens Eureka, Carter has to devise a temporary fix. Meanwhile, Allison thinks she's going crazy when she keeps seeing Nathan.

Tropes

  • Chekhov's Gun: Lexi's yoga music, which Carter hates and the bugs turn out to love, is used to lure the bugs to Vincent's fridge, where the cold kills them.
  • Credits Gag: The end credits music is played in the style of Lexi's yoga music.
  • I See Dead People: People keep seeing Nathan.
    • Subverted with Allison, who thinks she's going crazy when she keeps seeing Nathan, but eventually it is revealed other people see him too...because he's an hologram programmed into her necklace.
    • Fargo catches a glimpse of the hologram as he comes around from being frozen to kill the parasites and mistakes it for a Near-Death Experience. After coming around properly, he tells Allison that he saw Nathan and that he's alright. Everyone present knows what he really saw, but keep quiet and let him have his closure rather than embarrass him.
  • Morton's Fork: The parasites are killing Fargo by dehydrating him to death, but hydrating him makes them grow.
  • Mummy: Subverted. There is no actual curse (like Fargo thinks), and the mummy doesn't come to life, but there are dangerous insects that lay dormant in the tomb.
  • Protest by Obstruction: Dr. Wilding protests opening Queen Nyota's tomb by chaining himself to the door to the lab where it's being kept.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title obviously refers to the Jerry Maguire line "Show me the money!"
    • Carter's line, "Save Fargo, save the town," echoes the Heroes line, "Save the cheerleader, save the world."
  • Spotting the Thread: Carter realises that the parasites infesting the camerawoman died while those inside Dr. Marx continued to grow because the water feature she fell into was cold, whereas he died in hot bathwater. The team test this theory by freezing Fargo, successfully saving him from the parasites, then use a boombox playing Lexi's music to lure the swarm into Vincent's freezer.
  • The Swarm: A swarm of ancient insects causes the problems this time.
Zane: It's a swarm. That's what the cloud stands for.
Carter: Yeah, what kind of threat is it?
Dr Wilding: The bugs lay eggs, hatch larvae and then seek out new hosts.
    Henry: Us.
Eva Thorne: Well, how did the ancient Egyptians deal with the problem?
Zane: They killed the infected and burned their city to the ground.
Carter: Let's call that plan B.
  • Title Drop: "Show Me The Mummy" is the title of Dr. Marx's book. Carter is sent to find him when he doesn't appear for a signing, and finds him dead in his bathtub.
