Cool Ed: "Swiggity-swag, what's in the bag?"
After Ed's horrific hygiene and extreme clumsiness causes the Eds' energy drink scam to go completely sideways, his buddies decide to clean him themselves and give him a makeover. The other cul-de-sac kids are impressed with the new Ed, and Eddy starts a new scam that actually goes pretty well until the Kankers show up.
Tropes:
- Actually Pretty Funny: While showing off his new, Totally Radical self, Kevin asks Cool!Ed what he's up to, to which Ed replies "5'9, give or take." Kevin can't help but chuckle.
- Early-Installment Weirdness:
- Ed doesn't mind being given a makeshift bath in this episode. Later episodes would make it a point that he Hates Baths.
- For that matter, Eddy helping Ed reinvent himself without any alternative goal in mind is quite weird considering most of his reasons for helping others in the future are usually self-serving. Although he tried to cash in on Ed's sudden popularity with the kids, it was only after he helped him and saw the potential from it.
- The Eds 'scam' at the start of the episode is simply just a legitimate lemonade stand serving actual (albeit highly sugared) energy drinks with no strings attached.
- Establishing Character Moment:
- While previous episodes have shown Ed living in a basement, this episode really hammers in how much of a slob he can be.
- All three Eds show how they approach cleanliness - Neat Freak Double-D is in a bathtub, frantically trying to scrub off a grass stain, the laid-back Eddy is singing in the shower, and Ed.. isn't bothering to wash up at all.
- G-Rated Drug: See Keet down below.
- Keet: Double D spends the entire episode with a sugar rush due to Eddy pouring more sugar than necessary into his drink when he wasn't looking. At the end, he finally crashes.
- Kick the Dog: Not only do the Kankers' sabotage Ed's new image, costing him his popularity, but they also take Eddy's money, both for no good reason.
- Klatchian Coffee: Eddy unwittingly gives this to Double D by pouring an entire sack of sugar into a lemonade glass. One sip gives Double D a major sugar rush and makes him extremely energetic and excited.
- The Klutz: Ed's clumsiness ends up destroying the energy drink stand at the beginning of the episode.
- Lemonade Stand Plot: The episode begins with the Eds running an "Ed-O-Gee drinks" stand. Eddy pours too much sugar on the energy drinks, giving an unwitting Edd a sugar high.
- Naked People Are Funny: Eddy and Double D bathe Ed by stripping him naked in their driveway, sitting him down in a wagon and putting him through a makeshift carwash.Ed: Am I cool now?
Eddy: No, you're naked. - The Pig-Pen: Ed is not a very clean individual, to say the least. He never bathes or showers, and his bathroom is a disgusting, messy dump. In the establishing shot, he can't even remember why he went into the bathroom in the first place.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: A "he" example. It wasn't Ed's decision (it was Eddy's), but he seems to have no problem with it.
- Shower Scene: Eddy's prefered method for bathing, as he's shown using a shower stall, and happily singing (until he accidentally swallows his soap).
- Skyward Scream: "STUBBORN GRASS STAIN!"
- Sugar Causes Hyperactivity: After drinking lemonade with high amounts of sugar, Double D just goes wild!
- Super-Speed: Double D demonstrates this several times during his sugar rush.
- Totally Radical: Most of the catch-phrases that Edd and Eddy write for Ed.
