Recap / Dragons The Nine Realms S 7 E 6404 Alex Not Found

Go To

After everyone comes to her for their technical problems, interrupting her game of chess with her AI, Alex retreats into the former base of the Dragon Club. However, the others soon arrive there as well for their own reasons. Tom suggests they think about a way to get back the Book of Dragons. Alex, however, just wants to be left alone and an argument breaks out during which Tom acts dismissive towards her desire to be left alone. This causes Alex to storm off and get captured by Buzzsaw. Seeing an opportunity, she pretends to join Buzzsaw, leading him into the crystal labyrinth while also leading a trail for her friends to follow. After gaining his trust, she leads him into a dead end, steals the book, and makes a run for it. Buzzsaw cuts her off, but her friends come to her rescue. After Buzzsaw runs away, the friends apologize to Alex and return a repaired tablet to her. Alex then reveals that Buzzsaw is hunting for Jörmungandr, the Apex Predator of all dragons. Meanwhile, Buzzsaw returns to Sledkin, who reveals she took pictures of every page of the book.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Continuity Nod: Thunder tries to get Ford's and Winston's attention so that the riders can free Feathers by performing the dance Toothless performed when introducing himself to the Light Fury in the third movie.
  • Dude Where Is My Respect: The conflict arises from Tom being dismissive of Alex's desire to be alone, resulting in her feeling taken for granted.
  • Fake Defector: In order to recover the Book of Dragons, Alex spends most of the episode pretending to have left the dragon riders and that she wants to help Buzzsaw find the dragon he is seeking. She even has Feathers attack the other Riders when they come to save her.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: A literal example as the others taking Alex and her tech skills for granted results in them having a fight and her storming off, only for Thunder to try and hold her back, which leads to her tablet being destroyed. Saddened and angry, she flies off with Feathers and ends up being captured by Buzzsaw and his henchmen.
  • Offscreen Villain Dark Matter: Sledkin has an entire lab set up in a mine. It is never mentioned where she got all the high-tech equipment from.
  • The Reveal: Buzzsaw is hunting for Jörmungandr, the Apex Predator of all dragons.
  • Shoot Your Friend: In order to convince Buzzsaw she truly switched sides, Alex orders Feathers to blast her friends.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Tom and Jun are very dismissive of Alex's desire to be left alone until Alex's tablet breaks and she storms off.
