Olivia goes missing before an I.C.A.R.U.S. expedition, requiring the Dragon Club to find her before the other adults ask too many questions.

- All Up to You: Feathers is the only dragon to avoid being paralyzed, leaving her as the last line of defense for the Dragon Club.
- Art Evolution: The Speed Stingers now come in different colors, and have spots on their back and sails.
- Can Only Move the Eyes: Olivia's moving eyes are the only sign that she's still alive after having been paralyzed by Speed Stingers.
- Deadly Dodging: The final plan to beat the Speed Stingers, which actually works, is to have Feathers trick them into stinging each other.
- Dwindling Party: Jun and D'Angelo have to distract Phillip and Wilma to prevent them from venturing into dragon territory, meaning they get excluded from the rescue mission. The Speed Stingers proceed to paralyze the rescue party one by one, starting with Plowhorn, then Wu & Wei, then Eugene, then Alex, then Webmaster, and then Thunder, leaving Tom and Feathers to fend off the pack by themselves.
- Instant Sedation: Averted, unlike before. Whereas the Speed Stinger venom took effect in seconds back in the Viking age, the Stinger venom of the modern world leaves about a minute or two for the victim to try and get to safety.
- Over-the-Shoulder Carry: When the Speed Stinger discover the Dragon Club, Tom picks up the frozen Olivia by bending forwards pushing her lower stomach against his shoulder, then standing up carring her over his shoulder to Plowhorn holding her in place by pressing against her back and butt.
- Parents in Distress: Olivia went mining by herself and ran afoul of a Speed Stinger pack. When Tom finds her, she's been paralyzed in the ice realm for hours.
- Sand In My Eyes: Eugene gets leaky-eyed after Olivia is finally able to respond to Tom, excusing it as a side effect of the Speed Stinger venom.
- Taken for Granite: The Speed Stinger venom freezes people and dragons alike for a certain amount of time. They use it to freeze Olivia, Plowhorn, Wu and Wei, Eugene, Alex and Thunder. In the end, Tom and Feathers manage to get them to freeze each other. However, one Speed Stinger escapes and ends up freezing Sledkin.
