The hunt is on for the last remaining Android, as the Z-Fighters look for him. But little do they know what's in store for them.

Oh, come on, Vegeta. Was it really that big of a shock? How many other people on this planet have lavender hair?

Just lie back and think of tropes:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Piccolo has to give credit to Nail when he suggests "Nail Gun" as an attack name.
  • Ask a Stupid Question...: Piccolo, when Gohan saves him from Android 20.
    Piccolo: Gohan... how did you...?
Gohan: You two were hanging in the middle of the air! How could I not see you?
    Piccolo: Don't you... sass me...
  • Brick Joke: Just like Goku, Vegeta initially says that Trunks is a girl's name.
  • Call-Back:
    • SENZU BEAN!
    • Tien thought-sings "Cat Loves Food" at one point.
    • Even Android 20 is disappointed to find that Namekians aren't demons, but slug people.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Dr. Gero manages to combine this with a twisted version of What Have You Done for Me Lately?
Dr. Gero: You miserable reprobates! What have I ever done to you?!
Piccolo: Pretty sure you vaporized half a city.
    Dr. Gero: I meant recently!
Piccolo: That was an hour ago.
    Dr. Gero: Semantics!
  • Continuity Snarl: 20 tells Piccolo to "lie back and think of Namek" as 20 drains Piccolo's energy. Later, however, Android 20 expresses surprise when Piccolo mentions that he's an alien; 20 was still under the assumption that Piccolo was some kind of demon.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: An Android calibrated to match the heroes as of the Saiyan saga versus a Namekian that fused with another one, and spent a good three years training with Goku. You do the math on that one.
  • Feels No Pain: Piccolo suggests that it was a mistake for Gero to not design his android body to be that way. Gero explains why he's wrong...not that it does him any good given the current situation.note
Piccolo: You know, I never understood why you would even bother installing pain receptors. Kind of comes off as an intentional design flaw, if you ask me.
Dr. Gero: Don't you criticize my methods like you understand the neurosystem! Pain is imperative to recognize when you are in peril, to get the human mind con- (Piccolo chops off Dr. Gero's hand) -TEEEEEEEXT!
Piccolo: So contextually speaking... how f**ked are you?
  • Foreshadowing: Piccolo and Nail argue if "Hellzone Grenade" is a good attack name. It would be a rare, but useful staple for Piccolo in the series.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Piccolo and Tien talk about Vegeta's rediculous attack name "Big Bang Attack", but Nail calls Piccolo out for naming his attack "Special Beam Cannon". They spend the episode coming up with a new name for it while searching for Gero.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: When Piccolo probes Tien's mind while looking for Gohan, finding him singing "Cat Loves Food".
    Tien: You heard... nothing.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Android 20 after his arm gets chopped off:
Dr. Gero: You lime-colored son of a bitch! It's going to take me at least 2 hours to program a new hand! No, wait. I'm right-handed. Three hours!
  • Oh Crapbaskets:
    • Trunks has this reaction when he sees Android 19's head, realizing that the past timeline is different than when he first visited. Seeing the Z-Fighters with Gero, an entirely different Android compared to the two he fought in his time, confirms this possible deviation.
    • Vegeta himself has one when he realizes that Trunks is his son from the future.
Piccolo: Trunks? What are you doing here?!
      Vegeta: Ha! That's a girl's name.
Krillin: Wait. Isn't that the name of your kid?
Vegeta: What? Are you trying to imply that this wannabe Super Saiyan from the future is my soooooooooo....
Future Trunks: Well, guess that cat's out of the bag.
      • Trunks again when he sees his younger self with Bumla and Yajirobe.
        Trunks: Did she bring me?!
  • Only Sane Man: Yajirobe points out to Bulma how dangerous it is to be following the Z-Fighters when they are facing off against an Android that, just a few hours ago, killed half the entire population on South City, and the fact that Baby Trunks is with them.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Trunks and the Z-Fighters begin to argue about the "two androids that kill them" situation, all because Trunks does not recognize the current two at all. Unfortunately, Gero spots an opening to escape when Bulma and Yajirobe arrive with Baby Trunks in tow.
  • Shout-Out: Bulma and Yajirobe are listening to Mr. Roboto as they fly to the battle site.

"AND THERE'S MY DOOR!"
