Red Guy: C'mon guys, stop mucking around. We only have five minutes until our show's on.
Duck Guy: That's not enough time!
Tony the Talking Clock: There's always time for a song!
Beat
Red Guy: Wha...who is that?

The main characters are waiting for a TV broadcast to begin, with Red Guy acknowledging that they have five minutes left. A talking clock, Tony, appears and begins to sing about time. The protagonists question the reality of time, to Tony's annoyance. Tony then accelerates the passage of time, rapidly aging the cast and causing them to decay alive. Duck Guy's skin falls off of his hand and his eyeball falls out, Yellow Guy's hair grows and he becomes wrinkled, with blood spilling out of his eyes and other orifices, and Red Guy's hair turns a sickly grey and grows very long, with his eyes becoming slanted and even more dazed looking. The events are revealed to be part of a television programme watched by the three friends, with Tony telling them that it's out of his hands, but they will be fine, although "everyone runs out of time".

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 2

  • Ambiguous Situation: Was the whole episode even real? Or was it just the students watching their favorite television show?
  • Berserk Button: Don't question the concept of time in front of Tony.
  • Bookends: The episode both begins and ends with the puppets watching their static-ridden TV with a loud clock ticking noise droning on.
  • Clocks of Control: Tony the Talking Clock. Who remains as the most stern, blunt, and restrictive teacher in the whole show.
  • Continuity Nod: Yellow Guy's clown painting can be seen in the background.
  • Darker and Edgier: This episode has a much more darker tone than the previous episode, with having more explicit gore, darker themes, and the teacher being much more sinister. The show sticks with this through the rest of the seriesnote .
  • The Drag-Alongs: While in the previous episode where the students were much more accepting of Sketchbook's lesson, here, Red Guy makes it perfectly clear that no one wants to go on Tony's adventure through time. Too bad he forces them to go with him anyways.
  • Ear Ache: Yellow Guy's ears begin to bleed when Tony starts screaming "Meh!" into them.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Duck Guy being the more verbose one of the bunch is shown for the first time when he questions that time might not even be real.
  • Gainax Ending: Turns out that the events of Tony's song was nothing more but a television program being watched by the puppets. But Duck Guy's severed eye being hidden in the corner might imply something else..
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: The Students remain completely silent after watching themselves rot alive on TV somehow.
  • Mind Screw: The episode's ending.
  • Rapid Aging: The Student's bodies rapidly age due to time to the point that their bodies start rotting, while they're still alive!
  • Time Master: Tony can manipulate space time to show the student's their world in the past and future during his song and is all but said that he's responsible for the student's Rapid Aging.

Duck Guy: Maybe time's just a construct of human perception, an illusion created by-
Tony: Meh! Meh! Meh! Meh! MEH! MEH! MEH! MEH! MEH! MEH!
(Yellow Guy's ears begin to bleed)
