Go To

Zøg, Luci, Elfo, and Oona are glad to see Bean alive, while she remains defensive about who saved her. Zøg laments how lonely he is, and Bean admits she is in love, and they have a heart-to-heart about romance and love. Zøg takes Bean's advice to heart and tells her to take her own advice. An airship from Steamland tries to capture game from the forest. Zøg continues going through the forest, while Bean goes to the beach to "get over" Mora. Zøg walks through the forest and hides in a cave from the rain, later coming across Ursula. Bean goes on a journey with Elfo and Luci and they fall into a hidden cove, where Bean has a flashback to an ancient battle there. Zøg connects with Ursula and a child he didn't know he had. The Steamlanders try to capture Zøg's kid, but end up spearing his cigar, burning down part of the forest in the process.

Tropes:

  • Bones Do Not Belong There: The elf skeletons have visible ears.
  • Continuity Nod: Zog runs into the deer that stole his crown back when he first met Ursula, and it still has it. It manages to steal his current crown as well.
  • Corpse Land: Bean, Elfo and Luci find a cave filled with skeletons from elves and mermaids from the battle for Dreamland centuries ago.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: With a twist; since there are barely any human skeletons in the cave, it seems it was a pretty one-sided fight in favor of the humans. Bean's vision reveals however the Elves and Mermaids were the ones curbstomping the human army until an unseen magic user used lightning to wipe out all the Elves.
  • Downer Ending: The forest burns down, apparently killing Ursula only days after she and Zøg reunited. He almost leaves Jasper behind too, but has a change of heart and takes him back to Dreamland with him.
  • Evil Poacher: P.T., last seen running the Freakshow in Steamland, is looking for new creatures or people to kidnap for his sideshow.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Zog takes in Jasper's features, and as he does realizes how he has a lot of Zog's features, quickly putting two and two together to make "whoa".
  • Gorn: Not that Disenchantment has ever been a stranger to violent deaths, but the deaths in the flashback are particularly gory.
  • It Meant Something to Me: When Zog finds Ursula, she reveals that under her bearskin she still wears the human dress he gave her when she lived in the castle; symbolizing that she never forgot or stopped loving him.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The Racist Antelope is caught by P.T., and tries selling his freedom by selling out other beings in the forest. Instead, he's put in P.T.'s show as well.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Bean and Zog bond over their first loves being a mermaid, as well as lamenting lost love.
  • Made of Incendium: The forest burns incredibly fast for a place where it rained just a few days ago.
  • Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: Discussed briefly when Zog realizes Jasper is his. He briefly tries to reason that Jasper must be someone else's, only to cave quickly and claim he won't be a jerk about it.
  • Mistaken Identity: Zog mistakes a regular bear for Ursula, and barely avoids getting mauled.
  • Moral Myopia: Bean dismisses the elf skeletons in the cave as the result of a fair fight. She changes her tune quickly when she sees a mermaid skeleton.
  • New Child Left Behind: Having last been seen in Part 2, Ursula returns with a bear cub that looks kind of like Zog. Sure enough, Jasper the bear cub is his son.
  • No One Could Survive That!: Ursula falls from a burning log into a burning ditch, which Zog and Jasper stay beside until the fire burns out in the morning. After they leave, P.T.'s airship in the background contains an unidentified being in a net. The Season Finale confirms that it's Ursula.
  • The One That Got Away: Mora for Bean. Defied by Zog, who decides to seek out Ursula.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Zog doesn't mind Bean has feelings for a mermaid, considering his first love was also a mermaid.
  • Psychometry: Bean touches a dagger sticking out of a mermaid skeleton and has a flashback to an ancient battle between humans, elves, trogs, and mermaids.
  • Sequel Hook: The episode ends with P.T.'s airship returning to Steamland, an unidentified silhouette in a net.
  • Stripped to the Bone: The effect of the lightning magic on the elves strips the flesh off their bones.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Jasper basically looks like a young Zøg as a bear, with the same hair color.
  • Take a Moment to Catch Your Death: After Zog successfully pulls Jasper to safety, he reaches for Ursula. Their hands almost connect, only for the log to give way and for her to fall to her death. Seemingly.
  • Uncertain Doom: Ursula is last seen falling down into an inferno, and Zog and Jasper assume she's dead, though P.T. has someone in a net. The season finale confirms that it was in fact Ursula.
  • You Can Talk?: For most of the episode, Jasper appears to be mute, but eventually he turns to be able to talk.
