Recap / Dinotrux S 02 E 13 Lightning

Go To

When a lightning strike causes Skrap-It to become extremely intelligent, he and D-Structs come up with a plan to take the Dinotrux out from the inside.

  • Acting Unnatural: Part of Skrap-It's plan involves not making it apparent to the Dinotrux that he's changed, which is harder for him than it seems. In particular, he's been cured of his twitch and keeps forgetting to pretend he still has it.
  • Always Someone Better: Skrap-It doesn't just become smart, he becomes smarter than Revvit; For every renovation Revvit has in mind, Skrap-It executes a significantly better one.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: D-Structs uncharacteristically shows actual concern for Skrap-It immediately after he's struck by lightning, but he quickly shifts back to his usual treatment of him when it seems apparent that Skrap-It is fine.
  • "Flowers for Algernon" Syndrome: A lightning strike "fixes" Skrap-It, increasing his intelligence and removing his twitch, but he gets struck again and changed back to normal by the end of the episode.
  • Gilligan Cut:
Dozer: I hope no one we know is dumb enough to be outside during this.
    (Cut to D-Structs' lair)
Skrap-It: Eh... you sure I can't come inside yet, oh mighty Structs of D?
  • Harmless Electrocution: Ty tries to take down the lightning rod destroying the garage, but it electrocutes him instead, causing him to short circuit and seize up, but he is otherwise fine after a short rest.
  • Lightning Can Do Anything: Including altering the intelligence of a Scraptool and supercharging a seemingly harmless device into a death machine,
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Ton-Ton carelessly enters the Trux Wash with a bunch of scrap metal still in his bed, the force of the scrap metal being launched by the water is strong enough to cause heavy damage to all of the nearby constructions. Fortunately, Revvit has been looking for an excuse to renovate and upgrade the constructions anyway.
  • Only Sane Man: Revvit is the only one who notices that there is something off about Skrap-It.
  • Rube Goldberg Device: Skrap-It builds one of these allegedly to sort spare parts. Revvit even points out how needlessly complicated it is. This is on purpose so that it becomes a death machine when super charged.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Dozer nearly gets struck by lightning right after he says, "A little rain never hurt anybody."
    • Later, when Skrap-It nearly gets struck by lightning, D-Structs assures him that lightning never strikes the same place twice. With that knowledge, Skrap-It moves into the location just hit and is immediately struck by lightning.
