Original Airdate: June 15, 2001

Summary

It's been a long time since the Magical Gate is under attack, so Kento takes the time to call his distant friend from France, Jean. He just won the preliminary round of fencing, though he felt it undeserving as the better sportsman, Charles Gi Gourd, is trapped within the Magical Gate during the tournament.

After their chat, Kento practices kendo. He is then joined by Aoi, Kouji, Mamoru and Kyouichi as well as the Shinnou twins for moral support. When they go outside for a jog, the sky darkens. Lightning strikes a signboard, and as it's about to fall onto Kyouichi, Kento dives in to save him. Unfortunately, he hurt his shoulder in the process. The lightning forms into a serpentine dragon, and through it, Garyun challenges Kento for another round of battle. Kento accepts the challenge, though his friends are worried about his injury.

Kento and Gladion meets up with Garyun at the Fighting Field. A barrier is also set up there in advance, so no other Web Knights can interfere. While Gladion has Kento as his partner, Garyun has found a Web Diver of his own, too. The Web Diver is Charles, the French sportsman who was supposed to compete at the fencing competition and would have won the round.

As Gladion and Garyun trade blows, the latter notices that Gladion is unable to fight as his fullest. Garyun realizes that it's because Kento was injured from the havoc he caused earlier. Garyun calls off the battle, not wanting to fight at his opponent's disadvantage, but Deletloss personally interferes and makes Garyun go berserk through Charles. Seeing the noble dragon twisted against his will, Kento and Gladion end the battle quick, defeating Garyun to purge him from Deleteloss' possession.

With Gladion defeated, Charles is freed from the Magical Gate and returns back to his home world. However, the heroes fail to recover Garyun's data, as he somehow manages to slip off their grasp...
