Go To

Adam holds Martha captive. On the day of the apocalypse, an increasingly frantic Martha begs Bartosz for his help.

Tropes:

  • Apocalypse How: The episode ends with the Apocalypse in Eva's World taking place.
  • Anyone Can Die: Unlike the Apocalypse in Adam's world, nearly everyone except Hannah, Bartosz, Elisabeth and Ulrich die in Eva's World.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Adult Jonas wakes up this way after a nightmare about the apocalypse.
  • Distinguishing Mark: Ulrich becomes suspicious after he notices a scar on the boy from the bunker's chin that looks exactly like the scar that his brother had.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Magnus and Franziska in Eva's World.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Aleksander comes clean about his past to Bartosz, and also tells Charlotte about the barrels, unfortunately causing the Apocalypse.
    • Adam kills Martha to destroy the loop, while Eva killed Jonas to preserve it.
    • Egon in Eva's World is working with his daughter in time-travelling shenanigans, despite Claudia in Adam's World letting him die to avoid him interfering in the same.
  • History Repeats: Just like his younger self, Adult Jonas burns Martha's letter, but Adult Martha gives him the fresh one, possibly the one he would eventually give Noah as Adam.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Ulrich baits Helge to follow him across time.
  • Internal Reveal: Aleksander in Eva's World comes clean to Bartosz regarding his past as a criminal.
    • Ulrich realises his brother is indeed the missing boy in the morgue.
  • My Future Self and Me: Bartosz is saved from the Apocalypse by his older self.
    • Eva!Noah arranges his younger self to meet Elisabeth.
  • No Kill like Overkill: Adam uses the power of two Apocalypses to kill Martha and her child.
  • Patricide: This episode makes the opening of Season 2 this, as the man Noah kills in that episode is revealed to be the adult version of Bartosz, who is already revealed to be his father.
  • The Reveal: The Apocalypse fractured time so much that Jonas split between the knot into 2 possible realities leading to the same overall outcome, one where he went to Eva's World and died, and another where he survived the Apocalypse and grew into the Stranger.
    • Martha from Eva's World wrote that letter to the Stranger.
    • The Unknown were responsible for the incident at the Winden Nuclear Power Plant which formed the passage, in both worlds.
  • Stable Time Loop: The Apocalypse eventually creates the Incident and vice-versa.
  • Wham Episode:
    • It turns the Apocalypse caused 2 parallel realities, due to which Jonas dies in one world and grows up to be very old in another.
    • Martha (with longer hair and no facial scars) dies. Another quantum entanglement?
    • The 1986 incident in the power plant didn't happened by accident, but was caused by the Unknown.
  • Wham Shot: The episode's beginning plays out exactly as in "Endings and Beginnings", with Jonas promising the dead Martha in Adam's World, only when the Apocalypse takes place, there is no other Martha to save him.
    • Bartosz in Eva's World is saved by his adult self from the Apocalypse, who is identical to the man Noah murdered in "Beginnings and Endings".
  • You Have to Believe Me!: Martha tries to convince her brother that the Apocalypse is real, but is brushed off. He finds out too late when the resulting shockwave kills him.
    • Averted with Bartosz, who immediately believes her.
  • You're Insane!: Martha says this to Adam when he tells her that the only solution for everything is total annihilation.
