In 3... 2... 1...

The Bureau arrives to Baikonur, Kazakhstan, so they can infiltrate a COSMORUS launch site and stop SOMBRA from launching their own satellite. After managing to convince Natasha Romanova to let them investigate, Jack and the player enter the facility's launch control room, where they find the body of Vitaly Borodin, Senator of the Security and Defense Committee, with his throat slashed.

Tropes:

  • Back for the Finale: Nikolai Sharapov, Agrafena Raskolnikova, Natasha Romanova, Anya Ivanova, and Yelena Tereshkova all reappear as suspects in this case, which is the last one set in Eurasia.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Nikolai becomes an unwilling example after Jonah "convinces" him to give the Bureau the code he had been working on to hack onto SOMBRA's satellite.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Natasha manages to get away after launching the satellite because Jack argues that they need her alive for interrogation.
  • Carved Mark: The killer carved ЗЛОЙ (ZLOY, which means "EVIL" in Russian) on the victim's forehead with the same laser torch used to murder him.
  • The Climax: For Eurasia.
  • Continuity Nod: The victim was one of the senators that wanted to pass a law that would allow the government to spy on people with satellites, which is exactly what Agrafena warned you about in Case 14.
  • Convenient Photograph: The victim had been spying on COSMORUS with a hidden camera on his briefcase, which managed to catch a glimpse of the killer and give you a vital clue for their arrest.
  • Curse Cut Short: One while interrogation Yelena about Nikolai.
Yelena: All I'm saying is sometimes when he think is alone, he types on tablet, mumbles to self, he say SOMBRA eat my-
Chief Ripley: Very interesting indeed, Ms Tereshkova.
  • Don't Celebrate Just Yet: After the main conflict is over and everyone is celebrating, Ingrid rushes in to inform you about an earthquake in India, prompting Chief Ripley to send you there for aid.
  • Evil All Along: Natasha, who had been the one that asked the Bureau for help in the first place and had been backing them up all over the region, turns out to be the true mastermind behind the whole satellite plot and a member of SOMBRA.
  • Gaining the Will to Kill: Natasha manipulated Yelena into killing Vitaly with the excuse that she would be able to go to space if she did it.
Yelena: Natasha told me that it was Borodin who blocked my applications! He had the power! He was head of the Security and Defense Committee!
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Anya briefly joins you during the Additional Investigation to help the Bureau track down Natasha after she flees.
  • Hack Your Enemy: Elliot and Nikolai stop the satellite from wrecking havoc by hacking it, giving the Bureau a new tracking tool with it.
  • He Knows Too Much: Subverted: Throughout the case, Natasha and Jack theorize that Vitaly got killed after he stumbled onto the SOMBRA agents preparing to launch the satellite into orbit, but it's later revealed that Vitaly knew nothing and Natasha got him killed just because he was in the way.
  • Implied Death Threat: The victim slipped a message to Agrafena in a restaurant, warning her that the security committee considered her a threat.
  • The Infiltration: Jack and the player have to infiltrate COSMORUS after Natasha blocks the access for everyone not related to the agency.
  • Inside Job: Jack theorizes that the murder of Vitaly and the planned satellite launch must've been performed by someone inside of COSMORUS due to how complicated the plan is. He's right.
  • Laser Cutter: The victim was killed with a laser torch that the killer modified to make it a laser cutter as well.
  • Last Episode, New Character: An interesting example in that is the victim who is completely new this case, as he made no appearances prior to his death.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Not only Natasha deceived the entire Bureau (sans Marina and Jonah) by asking for their help when she was the one behind the whole ordeal, but she also manipulated Yelena and made her kill Vitaly with the excuse that she would go to space if she did it.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Despite still being quite The Ditz, Yelena is shown to have a cunning side when she decides to commit murder and then lie about it.
Jack: You're either very dim or very clever, Ms Tereshkova! I hope for your sake it's the former!
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Heroic example with Marina, who claims she's the only one allowed to arrest her mother after she's outed as a traitor.
  • Running Gag: Angela finishes her last Matryoshka doll in this case (of Jack), showing her entire collection at the end of the case.
  • Sabotage to Discredit: Nikolai attempts to sabotage the satellite launch by causing an explosion inside of the COSMORUS facility, since he wants the company to start funding human space exploration instead of satellites like the victim was intending.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: After working so hard to be a cosmonaut and go to space, Yelena is ultimately sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder after being manipulated by Natasha, rendering her dream unreachable forever.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Skewed Priorities: When you inform Yelena about Vitaly's murder, she seems more concerned about how this could delay her space mission. Justified, since she's the killer.
  • Slashed Throat: How the victim was killed.
  • The Stakeout: Anya had been doing this to spy on the victim, as she was required to do it per MGB's orders.
  • Take Over the City: The reason why Natasha agreed to help SOMBRA was that they promised total control over Russia for her.
  • Victory Through Intimidation: Jonah intimidates Nikolai so he can give the Bureau the code he had been working on capable of overriding the security system of SOMBRA's satellite.
  • I Warned You: After Natasha is exposed as a traitor. Marina says this to the Bureau, although Chief Ripley makes her back down as there are more important matters to address.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Nikolai saw the victim as this, claiming that his goal of spying on Russian people with a satellite would ultimately do good.
Nikolai: Some people thought it would be like Stalin all over again, but Borodin had the best interests at heart! Who would have killed him?!
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After Natasha launches the satellite, SOMBRA leaves her a cryptic message that implies she's a loose end that needs to be eliminated.
Natasha: How can you laugh, Marishka? That note is SOMBRA code! I'm a loose end! They'll kill me! I need protection!
