The player decides to accompany Amy to the train station, as she was going back home for a few days due to her brother's birthday. Unfortunately, her plans get cut short when you find the body of newspaper editor-in-chief Vito Pioni tied to a giant clock.
Tropes:
- 10-Minute Retirement: Hannah leaves the team during this case to investigate on her own, as she takes the case too personal due to her girlfriend being a suspect. Fortunately, she returns at the end.
- Abandoned Warehouse: Inner Chaos' headquarters are revealed to be this.
- Anarchy Is Chaos: Fredo killed Vito because he wanted to throw Inner City in chaos, and the death of an important news editor-in-chief would be a good way to start his revolution.
- Boom, Headshot!: How Hannah kills Fredo after the latter tries to murder everyone with a bomb vest.
- Call-Back: Aicha Ben Malek, Heather Valentine, and Fredo Mancini reappear as suspects in this case.
- The Climax: While not the finale of Inner City, this case serves as the conclusion of the Inner Chaos Story Arc with the death of Fredo and the group's disbandment.
- Climax Boss: Fredo becomes this, being one of the main antagonists of the district but getting arrested just before the final case set in Inner City.
- Cooldown Hug: Chief Marquez gives one to Hannah after she kills Fredo.Chief Marquez: I know you hate hugs, but thanks for saving our lives, kid.
- Computer Virus: The second half of the case has the team dealing with a virus invading every Inner City device after Heather releases it in the network to mess up with the newspaper's servers.Chief Marquez: My digital watch keeps insisting that it's 42 o'clock in 1967! Where is Hannah when you really need her?!
- Continuity Cameo:
- Eddie Moretti mentions that his cellmate was Tony Marconi.
- Zack Holden is seen in Fredo's list of enemies to eliminate.
- Continuity Nod: When you examine a newspaper, the deaths of Rosa Wolf and Ice P can be spotted on it.
- Dead Guy on Display: The victim is found tied to a giant clock in a public train station, as the killer wanted to leave a message.
- Don't Celebrate Just Yet: At the end of the case, Chief Marquez tells you that even with Inner Chaos gone, the community feud between the Chinese and the Russian communities hasn't been solved yet, not to mention the organs mysteriously disappearing throughout the district being a problem too, hence why your work in Inner City is far from over.
- Heroic BSoD: Hannah gets one after she kills Fredo, never expecting she would be forced to kill someone in her life.Hannah: I saw him up there and I just took Amy's gun and shot him! I've become a killer just like him!Chief Marquez: Ssshhh, Hannah, you're in shock. Fredo wanted to kill us all, but you wanted to save us.
- Hypocrite: Johnny Crossman, a member of Inner Chaos, is shown to be this when he tells you his views regarding the media.Johnny: I have a grudge against the whole lot of them! All media are evil, brutalizing and murdering our society! They should all be strung up!Amy: Err... Wouldn't stringing them up also kinda be evil, brutal and murderous?Johnny: It's freedom of speech!
- Immoral Journalist: Vito was not the most sensible editor-in-chief, being actively anti-immigration and anti-LGBT. Heather even becomes a suspect after she tried to have her fired because she wouldn't approve him writing an article about Hannah, criticizing her for being a lesbian police officer and former anarchist. It's one of the reasons why Fredo killed him.
- Improvised Weapon: The victim was killed by being strapped to a giant clock, which slowly strangled him to death as the clock's hands advanced and tightened the rope around his neck.
- Insane Troll Logic: Somehow, Aicha believes that climate change is caused by illegal immigrants of all things.
- Killed Mid-Sentence: Hannah shots Fredo just before he finishes his taunt and blows himself up along with everyone else.Fredo: It's time to die, then. Enjoy your last seconds pigs! Tick, tock, tick...[BANG!!]Fredo: ... It's all just... Chaos.Hannah: Time's up, Fredo!
- Love Hurts: Aicha was in love with Vito, but he just used her to write his papers regarding illegal immigration.
- Pulled from Your Day Off: Amy and the player stumble upon the body just as she was ready to leave for her brother's birthday.
- Reformed Criminal: Eddie Moretti, a former mafia head that now runs a restaurant and had some history with the victim.
- Renaissance Man: Hilariously Averted with the members of the Department trying to fill in for Hannah after she abandons the team, with all of them having problems analyzing the digital and technical clues Hannah would be best suited for. Russell is forced to flirt with a bank cashier so she gives him a check number, Roxie electrocutes herself trying to use a laptop, and Yann tries to get away with just explaining what a USB stick is after he almost burns down a computer trying to analyze it (which, to be fair, wasn't his fault as the USB contained a supervirus).Roxie: That's the last time I step into Hannah's shoes! Corpses don't have to be switched on and off a million times to give answers. Corpses are pretty much always off!
- Rhyming Names: The Mobster, Eddie Moretti.
- Running Gag: The members of the team struggling with analyzing clues that would be best suited for Hannah after she leaves the team.
- Shout-Out:
- Eddie Moretti is a parody of Vito Corleone.
- The Station Terminal scene is a parody of Grand Central Station.
- In the Little Italy Street scene, there is a picture of Pinocchio, a picture of Al Capone, Michelangelo's David, and Godzilla.
- In the Pasta Restaurant scene, there is a cropped Mona Lisa.
- In the Anarchist Hideout scene, there is graffiti of Uncle Sam and a punching dummy of a parody of Mr. Monopoly.
- In the Filing Cabinet scene, there is a Richard Nixon mask.
- In Chapter 2's cover image, there are posters parodying the cover of the TIME Magazine.
- Hannah mentions that the victim is addicted to "that game with all the sweets", a clear reference to Candy Crush Saga.
- In the Additional Investigation, you learn a pasta recipe from Eddie, a gangster, who says his old cellmate used to slice the garlic with a razor blade so thinly it would just melt into the sauce.
- Suicide Attack: Fredo attempts to kill everyone in court with a bomb vest, but Hannah manages to stop him with a bullet to the head.
- Tempting Fate: Amy gives us this little gem when you suggest accompanying her to the train station.Amy: I just hope this time we won't stumble on a dead body, haha!
- Thanatos Gambit: Inverted. Vito's death served as a gambit for Fredo, since killing a famous news editor-in-chief meant a lot of influential people would go see his trial, where he could kill everyone with a Suicide Attack.
- We Used to Be Friends: Eddie and Vito were childhood friends until Vito sold all of Eddie's associates to the police, which led to his arrest.
