A truly Foul Flower.

Hank Buxton, CEO of Buxton's Britches Ltd, is found dead at the rooftop of his headquarters, buried in a flower pot and with a corpse flower in his mouth.

Tropes:

  • Angry Guard Dog: Parodied. Lola threatens you with her Chihuahuas if you don't return her photo dressed as Catwoman.
  • Atrocious Alias: Hank had a Friendnet account by the name of "Well Hung Hank".
  • Asshole Victim: As we learn throughout the case, Hank wasn't a good person. He kept his wife sedated so she didn't bother him, blackmailed Lola into having an affair with him, wanted to have Georgi fired from all of his jobs, and even wanted to put his mother into a retirement home against her will.
  • Awesome by Analysis: How Nathan manages to discover the killer’s height just by analyzing the flower pot that was used to strike the victim.
Nathan: The clear crack on the base that <Name> uncovered in restoring this plant pot enabled me to estimate the force at which it struck the object it broke on.
Now, after comparing the nature of the victim's head trauma, his height, the weight of the pot and the variability factor of the wind strength on the rooftop that night...
And by taking into account the additional angle at which the crack formed, I was able to calculate that it was thrown by a person who was 5 foot 2 inches tall!
Jones: Oh... Well... I don't really know what to say to that. Apart from... Well done once again.
  • Blackmail: We learn that Hank had been doing this with Lola due to getting hold of embarrassing photos of her.
  • Bleak Abyss Retirement Home: Hank wanted to do this with his mother Peggy after stealing her fortune, so she decided to murder him.
  • Cliffhanger: The case ends with Ramirez informing you that Kerry Ann Buxton has been found murdered.
  • Clothing Damage: In the Additional Investigation, you help Georgi repair his torn dress. Apparently, it got like this due to him and Peggy's... activities.
  • The Diva: This case introduces Lola Vallez, who Jones even refers to as "that famous diva singer."}
  • Drag Queen: Georgi is one under the alias of "Lady Georgina." See for yourself.
  • Dumb Blonde: Kerry Ann Buxton, Hank's widow, is... not very bright, to say the least, though you later discover that Hank had been drugging her, so who knows.
Jones: Mrs. Buxton, we need to collect as much information as possible about your husband's affairs in order to progress with our investigation...
Kerry Ann: My husband was having an affair?! That bastard! Ohhh.. I'll track that sneaky snooky down and she'll be sorry she ever laid eyes on my Hanky!
Jones: No, Mrs. Buxton... I'm talking about his possessions, not extra-marital affairs.
  • Fan Boy: Ramirez to Lola Vallez.
  • Funny Foreigner: Georgi Papacoulis, the Buxton's Greek gardener. He mostly speaks in You No Take Candle, dresses in women's clothes for his own amusement, and you even catch him having sex with Hank's 80-year old mother.
  • Gold Digger: Peggy accuses Kerry Ann of this, hence why she offered Hank to leave all of her fortune to him if she divorced his wife. While he seemed to agree, he ended up betraying her, which coupled with Bleak Abyss Retirement Home prompted her to kill him.
  • Improvised Weapon: The victim was strangled with a pantyhose.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: In Chapter 2, you walk in Peggy and Georgi having sex.
Jones: Mrs. Buxton, we're sorry for disturbing you... We didn't expect you to be... um... indisposed...
  • Offing the Offspring: Hank's killer ends up being Peggy Buxton, his own mother.
  • Pet the Dog: Lola is the first person in Grimsborough who genuinely seems to threat Ramirez with respect, as shown during their meeting.
  • Standalone Episode: This is the only case in Maple Heights where the mayoral elections are not referenced in any way, making it non-relevant for the overall plot of the district.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The victim resembles Donald Trump.
    • Kerry Ann Buxton resembles Anna Nicole Smith.
    • Zack Holden is an obvious parody of Mark Zuckerberg.
    • In Chapter 2's cover image, there is a photo of Lola Vallez in a sexy Catwoman costume.
    • In the Roof Garden scene, there is a Nokia phone.
    • In the Wine Cellar scene, there is a portrait of William Shakespeare.
    • In the Wine Tasting Area scene, there is a green lantern.
    • In the Club Lobby scene, the Mona Lisa is visible.
  • Skewed Priorities: When you inform Kerry Ann about Hank's death, she starts crying... due to thinking she's now poor.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: After Jones says he read about Hank's marriage with Kerry in girly gossip magazine,
Jones: What? Don't look at me like that... I don't buy it or anything!
  • That Came Out Wrong: When interrogating Peggy about her pantyhose (since the victim was strangled with one), this happens:
Jones: I... um... We're not here to talk to you about your moustache, Mrs. Buxton... We want to talk about your pantyhose... I mean... uh... Help me, <Player´s Name>!
Peggy: My pantyhose? Why, you little pervert!
  • Too Much Information: Jones practically begs Georgi to stop talking about his sex life with Peggy.
Georgi: Last time I was wearing it, I was giving a "private show" to Mrs. Buxton on garden rooftop! She really liked when I-
Jones: Stop! Don't say more! I'm sure <Player's Name> and I will be able to find your dress on the rooftop, but please... No more details, Georgi!
  • Urine Trouble: Kerry Ann's pet chinchilla pees on Jones when you talk to her.
  • You No Take Candle: Georgi Papacoulis speaks this way.
Georgi: Yes, yes! All the time, he always very angry, but he so fat and red! It so funny... He like a clown, you know? Hahaha, funny fat man.
