Recap / Code Prime - R1: Rebellion, 33 "Setting the Stage"

Go To

With Suzaku and Dreadwing finally turned to their side, the Grand Alliance prepare to bring their final fight for Japan's freedom to Britannia and the Decepticons, on the Tokyo Settlement. But little do they realize that this was a diversion for Megatron's master plan to come to fruition - namely a full-scale assault on Britannia's capital, Pendragon!

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In a dark mirror of Duel of Steel, Megatron takes down Cornelia's Gloucestor with little effort.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Everyone in the Autobot-Black Knight alliance, including the ones who distrust Dreadwing, are completely horrified that the former Decepticon requests Ratchet to install a bomb in the former's head, allowing the Autobots to detonate it in case he betrays them.
  • Get a Room!: After Lelouch finishes his heartfelt phone call to Suzaku before the Battle for Tokyo starts, C.C. teases Lelouch with this.
  • I Have Your Wife: Hardshell and several other Insecticons capture Milly, Rivalz, and Nina, presumably to use as leverage against Lelouch, Suzaku, and Kallen (they do not seem to know that Shirley is a Black Knight).
  • I'll Kill You!: When Cornelia confronts Megatron for what he did to Euphemia, she declares she is going to kill him. Unfortunately she fails to deliver on this promise, and instead suffers a Curb-Stomp Battle against him.
  • Internal Reveal: After keeping her status as a Black Knight a secret out of fear her mother will go back to using Refrain, Kallen tells her the truth, and even reveals Lelouch's identities as Zero and a former Britannian prince to her. She even introduces her to partners Arcee and Cliffjumper.
  • The Reveal: Megatron planned for the Black Rebellion so that he can take over Pendragon while most of the elite Britannian forces are fighting the Black Knights and the Autobots.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Cornelia goes on a warpath against Megatron after learning that the Decepticons kidnapped Euphemia in the previous chapter, and used the Pretender drone in her sister's image to instigate the SAZ massacre.
  • Ship Sinking: Shirley finally confesses her feelings to Lelouch, only for the revolutionary to gently turn her down (due to not having feelings for her), but still considering her as a close friend. Likewise, Shirley assures Lelouch that she'll stand by him as a friend, even telling him to make sure that if he ever gets a girlfriend, to make her the happiest girl in the world. Lelouch even expresses his hope that Shirley will find someone as well.
  • So Proud of You: Despite being understandably worried for Kallen's safety upon learning of her daughter being a part of a resistance movement (due to losing her son Naoto the same way) Mrs. Kozuki expresses pride in her daughter for taking a stand against Britannia. Cliffjumper also expresses his admiration for his human partner upon he and Arcee being properly introduced to her mother.
Cliffjumper: Nice to meet ya. You raised one hell of a kid.
