Recap / Code Lyoko S 4 E 15

Go To

Odd attempts to bring Kiwi to Lyoko, antics ensue. Meanwhile, Sissi suspects that the Lyoko Warriors did something to William due to his clone's behavior, which forces Yumi to distract her with a lie about dating William.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Animorphism: Odd's transformation into Kiwi is this and would have been permanent had Jeremie not fixed the problem in time.
  • Badass Biker: Judging by their behavior, XANA makes them suitably hard to get rid of for Yumi.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Jérémie and company notice that bikers have started to use the factory floor as a training ground. XANA possesses them later to kill Yumi.
  • Continuity Nod: Kiwi nearly went to Lyoko in their first adventure as seen in the two-part prequel.
  • Compromising Call: While on the run from the bikers that are possessed by XANA, Yumi sees a rope hanging near a pillar and jumps toward the rope, grabbing it and climbing on it as fast as possible. After coming near a gangway, Yumi swings on a rope toward it, then jumps and lets go of the rope to hide from the Bikers XANA possessed. Unfortunately, Yumi's phone goes off when crawling away from the bikers. She blames Jérémie as that's who was ringing.
  • Fake Relationship: Yumi pretends to date William's clone to keep him away from a suspicious Sissi. Not that she buys it.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Implied, as Odd is apparently growing a tail in his backside. Aelita covers her eyes before this news, mercifully.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: When Sissi questions William's clone about his relationship with Yumi, he comments that Ulrich Stern is a nice guy (contrary to the love rivalry between Ulrich and the real William). Which alerted Sissi that there was something really wrong with William.
  • Phlebotinum Breakdown: Odd tries to take Kiwi with him to Lyoko, only for the scanner to merge them into one body, giving him no end of trouble until Jérémie can reverse the problem.
  • Shout-Out: Odd turning into Kiwi is basically a tribute to the Animorphs book series, which also features a group of similarly super-powered kids fighting a secret war to save the planet (with the titular Animorphs turning into anything they touch (animals, aliens and later on humans) and the Lyoko Warriors going into Lyoko). Much like the Lyoko Warriors, both groups also rely heavily on keeping their conflict a secret from adults to ensure their secret don't get out.note  The only major difference between them is that Odd's turning into Kiwi was purely accidental on his and Jeremie's part as he attempted to bring the dog into Lyoko, rather than outright touching him to acquire him much like the Animorphs would have.
  • Smarter Than You Look: Ulrich out of all people manages to break down Jeremy's Techno Babble into smaller words. Aelita comments about how good he did.
  • Spit Take: Averted, as when Jeremie suggested Yumi to keep pretending to date William to keep him away from Sissi, Ulrich chokes on his food at this but doesn't spit anything.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Sissi follows Yumi and William's clone through the entire city because she's suspicious there's something off with "William".
  • The Nose Knows: Odd, after accidentally absorbing Kiwi's DNA manages to find Jim's missing watch with his enhanced sense of smell.
  • Two Beings, One Body: Odd and Kiwi become merged, and Odd starts to turn into Kiwi.
