- Damsel in Distress: Averted. Randy knew the whole time his mom wasn't in any danger, but growing up with a mom who worked as a police officer has made Randy scared that Pearle wouldn't come home, so he needed to make sure she was okay.
- Extreme Doormat: Mr. Campbell is this when it comes to the "cool moms", essentially letting their children do whatever they please at school.
- Free-Range Children: Jojo has raised her daughter to be like this emphasizing how it's giving her independence, but its basically turned her into a little hooligan.
- Full-Frontal Assault: The last part of Josh, Alex, and Randy's plot goes through this, as it takes place at a nudist temple and they all strip down before infiltrating it to save Pearle.
- Graceful Loser: After Emily defeats Jojo in the arm-wrestling match (and accidentally dislocates the latter's entire arm in the process), Jojo simply accepts her loss and injury as karma for being a dick, snaps her arm and fingers into place to make a peace gesture, and leaves with her daughter.

- The Power of Love: Emily's about to lose in the arm-wrestling match until she happens to look on the hat that Candice made for her, which then magically floats to her, alights on her head, and turns backwards, and she finds her second wind needed to come out on top.
- Road Trip Plot: The B Plot of the episode, where Josh and Alex join Randy on a road trip to check on Randy's mother Pearle at her vacation spot because he is worried about her.
