Recap / Chaotic S 1 E 29 Chaotic Crisis

Go To

Kaz learns that the Creatures of Perim have cracked the Chaotic Code and are getting ready to invade Earth.

Tropes:

  • All Just a Dream: It turns out the events of this episode have all been a dream by Kaz. Or rather, a Dream Within a Dream.
  • Big Bad Friend: Chaor is this for Kaz. He wants to conquer earth and enslave the 'earthlings', but wants Kaz to help him do it as an ally.
  • Evil All Along: Much to Tom's surprise, Maxxor and the Otherworlders came to Earth for the same reason as Chaor. To conquer it. *
  • Foreshadowing: There are several signs that the events are all a dream. For example:
    • Peyton acts all groggy when Kaz asks him if he has his scanner.
    • Sarah's Out-of-Character Alert, when she willingly joins the Danians in conquering Earth.
    • Tom becomes hostile towards Kaz, believing he's sided with the Underworlders, locks him in a closet and later threatens to freeze him and Peyton. This ironically foreshadows the season finale, where Tom does end his friendship with Kaz.
    • Maxxor and Chaor are shown to be evil and conquering in this episode, which was not shown in any other episode.
  • The Quisling: Tom believes Kaz is this, as the machine who opened the portals from Perim to Earth is identical to the one Kaz built as a science fair project. This of course isn't true, and the real traitor is their science teacher, who gave the info about the machine to Olmar in exchange for being made the ruler of a country once the Underworlders conquer Earth.
  • Science Fair: The episode begins in the middle of one, where every student seems to have made the classic erupting volcano, except for Tom, who made a volcano out of tortilla chips who erupts nacho cheese, and Kaz, who made a large scale replica of what he thinks his scanner looks like on the inside. Unsurprisingly, Tom's project gets him praise, while Kaz's gets him a F.
  • Taking the Bullet: Kaz jumps in front of an energy ray meant for Chaor. Despite the latter's plan to conquer earth, Kaz still considers him a friend and can't bring himself to simply watch him die.
  • Too Good to Be True: Kaz realizes he's still in a Dream Within a Dream at the end of the episode because the girl he seems to have a crush on asks him out on a date.
