Recap / Centurions Ep 65 Man Or Machine Part 5

Go To

At Skyvault, Crystal, Jake and Max are shocked to see Ace caught by the blast from the giant asteroid's explosion and see now a storm of meteors heading for Earth. Meanwhile, John has infiltrated Gog's fortress and tries to release the many prisoners inside, but on their way out, the stealthy Centurion runs into danger only to be saved by Hacker, who explains Gog's plan to kill all mankind on Earth and gives him a disc with data pinpointing the likely courses of the meteors as predicted by Doc Terror. The Skyvault's computer catches a faint signal from Ace in space, and with some efforts, Crystal successfully beams him into the space station. Rex is called in and informed of the situation, and the Centurions quickly devise a plan to avoid Earth's doom: Ace and Crystal at Skyvault will intercept most of the meteors in space, with the remainder of them that make it to Earth to be dealt by the other Centurions. All goes according to the heroes' plan, while Doc Terror and Hacker blow up Gog's stronghold, finally destroying the alien computer itself — but not before it launches its final weapon, a massive rocket that heads to New York City. The Centurions are sent, and when John hits the rocket with Dr. Wu's weapon, it splits into three sections, one aquatic, one aerial and the last one rolling over ground. Soon, the three sections are dealt with, and the danger is prevented. Afterwards, John and Rex are recognized for their valor in the face of the dire world crisis brought by Gog, and are warmly welcomed as the new members of the Centurions.

Tropes Xtreme!:

  • Big Applesauce: Yet again, this time NYC is threatened by Gog's final weapon, a giant rocket that splits into three doomsday vehicles. It must be a pain to live at NYC in this show.
  • Land, Sea, Sky: This time it's not just Jake, Max and Ace, but also the three sections of the final weapon that Gog launches at NYC.
  • The Unfought: Arguably, Gog and Magog. More so for the Centurions, as they never even saw Gog, and only John faced Magog in anything resembling direct combat, and was about to lose to it in Part 2 of the mini-series. Magog was tough enough than even Doc Terror AND Hacker couldn't make a scratch on it; later, Terror manages to knock Magog down right when it was about to kill Hacker, but Magog didn't seem to be seriously damaged. Moreover, the robot never faced a direct attack from a fully armed Centurion. In the end, both Gog and Magog are destroyed off-screen, only when Doc Terror sets up several bombs in their fortress and has Hacker detonate them remotely.
  • Villainous Rescue: John is saved from a Mecha-Mook closing in on him by Hacker. The Centurion incorrectly assumes Hacker wants to kill him by himself, but the cyborg quickly explains why he saved John and the gravity of the situation.
