The school year is almost over as the school dance approaches at Toad Town High. Everyone is finding dates to go to the dance, but it is easier than it seems for Carl.
No one says no to TV Tropes! No one!:
- Big "OMG!": Calvin lets this out when Linda accidentally spills vegetable soup on him, scalding and burning him.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Two from Gooper and one from Liam:
- The first instance was Grace rejecting Gooper and Jim telling him that he should go to the dance with Mary-Lynn, which made Gooper yell shut up loudly to Flaig.
- Gooper lets this out again towards Jim for correcting him and Liam - even Liam lets one out at him.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Carl had a problem asking Grace to take him to the school dance with him as his date throughout the entirety of the episode.
- Dumbass Has a Point: Jim states that Gooper would be going to the dance with Mary-Lynn instead of stalking Grace and forcing him to dance with him. His point was completely averted when Gooper tells Jim to shut up very angrily.
- Kick the Dog / The Dog Bites Back: Justified. After Logan makes a snarky comment to his father about Linda looking after him after the nasty fall in the previous episode, Calvin takes his anger out on him for making such a nasty comment to him.
- Motivational Lie: Liam and Bob have tricked Carl into thinking that Gooper was taking Grace to the school dance was enough to make him fall into a depressive state for over a week as it hurt him mentally and physically.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Had Roberto not bumped into Dry Bones and got his special all over his suit, Dry Bones would have gone to the dance in his original suit. Thankfully, Linda had given Dry Bones one of Calvin's suits to borrow.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Two instances of this trope happen:
- First, Talia had this reaction towards Dry Bones because he was unable to purchase a suit for the dance.
- This trope happens again when Boo, Blooper, and Dry Bones are all annoyed at Carl after he fails to ask Grace out to the school dance one too many times.
