Following the events of the previous episode Carl is depressed and has isolated himself in his room thinking that Grace will never like him. Meanwhile Gooper kidnaps Grace and forces her to be his date for the school dance,
Tropes:
- Beard of Sorrow: For the first half of the episode, Carl is seen growing a green beard due to being depressed from Grace going to the dance with Gooper instead of him. After being encouraged by Logan, Carl shaves his beard and cleans himself up.
- The Big Damn Kiss: Between Carl and Grace near the end of the episode, promoting them to a couple.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Just like Carl, Grace has had feelings for him for quite a while, but couldn't bring herself to confess to Carl.
- Cassandra Truth: When Blooper mentions to Dry Bones that he is Roxanne's date for the school dance, Dry Bones doesn't believe him. Cue Dry Bones' reaction when Roxanne tells him that she is indeed Blooper's date for the dance.
- Damsel in Distress: While on her way to Carl's house to ask him out to the dance, Grace is kidnapped by Gooper, who forces her to be his date. She is rescued by Carl in the end, though she does try to free herself from him during the dance.
- The Dog Bites Back: Carl stands up to Gooper after he loses his temper with Grace, and even manages to defeat him.
- A Friend in Need: Blooper decides to be Roxanne's date for the school dance after Tucker ditches her to watch a football game with his friends.
- Groin Attack: Grace kicks Gooper in the crotch after he briefly knocks Carl out. This also gives Carl enough time to gain a second win and knock Gooper out for good, saving Grace.
- He's Back!: Carl finally gains the courage to come out of his room, clean himself up and go to the dance after some encouragement from Logan.
- High-School Dance: The premise of this episode is about Carl and Grace trying to be with each other during the annual School Dance.
- Love Epiphany: Grace rants to her friends about Carl not asking her out to the school dance while they were both working on their school assignment. The girls ask her why does she care so much, only for her to go silent, leading all of them to realize that Grace has a crush on Carl.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Blooper gives Tucker one of these, calling him out for not accompanying Roxanne to the school dance in favor of watching a football game. Tucker himself realizes Blooper is right, and apologizes to him for getting angry.
- Relationship Upgrade: Carl and Grace share their first kiss after he saves her from Gooper. Season 2 ends with them becoming an Official Couple.
- Super Gullible: Kylie and Logan call Carl out on this for believing Bob and Liam when they told him that Grace liked Gooper and not him.
- Would Hit a Girl: Gooper takes Grace to an empty classroom and tries to hit her for trying to embarrass him in front of other students, even shoving her against a desk first. It's a good thing Carl walked in on them. Before this, he had also locked Mary-Lynn inside a closet at his home.
