Recap / Captain Planet And The Planeteers S 3 E 7 The Guinea Pigs

Go To

The Planeteers are sent to investigate the thefts of numerous small animals, both wild and domestic. Unfortunately, Suchi had also been kidnapped. It's revealed that the animals had been taken to be used as test subjects for a local celebrity's cosmetics product line, and it is headed by Dr. Blight.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Dr. Blight subjects small animals to cruel product testing experiments because "it's less costly", though it's also apparent she's doing it just for her own amusement.
  • Berserker Tears: When Dr. Blight shows her inhumane experiments on animals, which included some rabbits having eyedrops continuously dripping in their eyes, Gi cries in anger that the experiments don't even prove anything and are just needlessly cruel.
  • Hairpin Lockpick: Suchi manages to swipe a hairpin from Dr. Blight's hair before getting locked in a cage. He then uses it to pick open the padlock to his cage, then later to Chester the dog's cage..
  • Malicious Misnaming: Recognizing Suchi, Dr. Blight insultingly addresses him as Screechy, Scratchy, Smelly, Sonny, Scuzzy, and Scurvy. Once she gets trapped and Suchi closes in on her with the electric saw, Dr. Blight desperately tries to appease him by addressing him correctly.
  • Strapped to an Operating Table: Suchi gets shackled to an operating table where a sinister saw closes in on him. The rest of the Planeteers also get strapped to operating tables to be used as human test subjects. At the end of the episode, Dr. Blight herself gets strapped to one where Suchi subjects her to the same saw treatment.
  • Traumatic Haircut: Suchi gets shaved bald. After trapping Blight, Suchi gives one of his own on her.
