• Died on Their Birthday: Kevin Fetzer is knifed to death at his 35th birthday party, which, ironically, he threw for himself as a celebration of having already accomplished everything he'd set out to do in his life.
• Indirect Serial Killer: Detective Stanley Richardson is a Vigilante Man and Killer Cop who on his deathbed decides to punish criminals who got away with their crimes. He uses his old friend Detective Sam Vega to carry out the crimes and even sets up Vega's death via the police as Vega is secretly another one of the criminals on his hit list.
• Revisiting the Cold Case: Looking for motives in the deaths of the three victims, the team discovers that each of them had a loved one whose case had never been solved. In each situation, there are similarities between the past and present cases.
• Suicide by Cop: Dirty Cop Sam Vega is caught drowning someone. Despite being surrounded by cops pointing their weapons at him, he draws his pistol and is promptly gunned down.
