"Point of View" is the 22nd episode of Season 6 and the 139th overall. It originally aired May 19, 2010.
While recuperating at home after being injured trying to apprehend a murderer, Mac observes suspicious behavior - and his own ex-girlfriend - in a neighbor's apartment across the way.

Tropes for the episode:

  • A Handful for an Eye: Flack approaches the perp while on a rooftop and the guy attempts to get away by scooping up a handful of sand and grit from the surface and flinging it in Flack's face. Fortunately Danny is sneaking up behind the guy and nabs him.
  • Dramatic Chase Opening: The episode opens with Mac chasing a murder suspect though a building before getting throwing over a stairway landing by the guy and being knocked out.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: The perp wants to warn people that NYC is not ready for another terrorist attack...so he decides to gas a public gathering.
  • Injured Limb Episode: Mac is pushed over a three-story balcony in the opening. The action picks up a month later, and he's still at home with a sprained right ankle, his right wrist in a brace, and a few broken ribs. He manages to help with the case while recuperating, and even leaves his apartment a few times before it's over, too; although he limps a lot and winces in pain after ramming his right shoulder into a locked door to break it open.
  • No OSHA Compliance: The railing Mac goes over is much too low for safety.
  • Out Sick: Mac has been out of work for a month by the time he sees Peyton at his neighbor's.
  • "Rear Window" Witness: It's a clear shout out to the film, what with Mac spying on his neighbors from his chair with his foot propped up, a possible love interest hanging around, and a mystery to solve.
  • Reliably Unreliable Guns: Averted. Mac's revolver doesn't go off despite falling 30 or so feet and landing with him on a metal grate.
  • Single-Episode Handicap: Mac will be completely healed by the next episode, and no mention of his injuries here is ever made again.
  • The Bus Came Back: Dr. Peyton Driscoll returns for this episode only; she's just in NYC for a convention.
  • Trial Run Crime: The perp purchases a canary and tests out his murder method on it.
