"Hammer Down" is the 7th episode of Season 6 and the 124th overall. It originally aired November 11, 2009.
When a semi is involved in a head-on collision on the freeway, the driver flees the scene and the team finds a dead woman in a metal drum. Ray Langston from CSI arrives fresh from Miami, hot on the trail of a human-trafficking ring.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Ancestral Name: Although the two have different middle names, it's implied that "Mac" Taylor was named after his father, McCanna, for whom he still has great respect a couple of decades after the man's death. When Ray arrives from Las Vegas, he and Mac talk about their dads having served in the military. Ray then says, "I hear you wore some stripes yourself," and Mac replies, "I just wanted to be like my father."
  • Crossover: Part 2 of the "CSI Trilogy." Part 1 is CSI: Miami 's "Bone Voyage" and Part 3 is CSI 's "The Lost Girls".
  • Dead Man's Chest: The woman in the metal drum which fell off the semi.
  • Hood Hopping: Mac pursues the perp by hopping from car to car in a junkyard, while Ray cuts him off with a dirt bike.
  • Organ Theft: One facet of the trafficking ring's crimes is to kill women for their organs once they've "outlived their usefulness" in prostitution and/or baby brokering.
  • Strange Cop in a Strange Land: CSI Level 3, Dr. Ray Langston from the Las Vegas Crime Lab, helps Mac question an informant, then joins an armed team which apprehends one of the traffickers.
