"It Happened to Me" is the 6th episode of Season 6 and the 123rd overall. It originally aired November 4, 2009.
A man Sheldon recognizes is found lying in a crosswalk, having bled to death. Later, the man's date is found in her apartment, having bled to death as well. During the course of the investigation, the team is introduced to the world of "food sploshing," where people use food in ways never intended. Sheldon admits a secret he's been hiding.
Tropes for the episode:
- Adopted to the House: Sheldon, when Mac invites him to crash in his spare room for a while, after the former reveals his secret to his boss.
- Broke Episode: Sheldon loses his life savings in bad investments. He is shown sleeping on a friend's couch after having to give up his apartment and sell his furniture. He spends most of the episode hiding this from his colleagues, but reveals it to Mac and a perp when said perp is about to jump from a building due to similar circumstances.
- Food Porn: Quite literally. Participants spend their lunch hours scantily clad, while taking the champagne & strawberries thing up to eleven with varying culinary themes.
- ...Or So I've Heard: Adam plays this one perfectly straight while explaining to Stella & Flack what "sploshing" is.
- Overdrawn at the Blood Bank: The second victim who'd bled out through her nose and eyes. Given the volume of water flooding her apartment, it shouldn't be anywhere nearly as red as it is.
