"One Wedding and a Funeral" is the ninth episode of Season 4 and the 80th overall. It originally aired November 21, 2007.
A man is found dead in his dressing area right before his wedding. A box containing blood-spattered pieces of a jigsaw puzzle is left on Stella's car outside the courthouse. Mac's stalker lures him back to his hometown.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Actor Allusion: Both Gary Sinise and his character, Mac Taylor, hail from Chicago.
  • Feuding Families: The bride's and groom's families are shown duking it out in the opening. Flack refers to them as the Hatfields and the McCoys.
  • GPS Evidence: Subverted. Stella and Lindsay find tree bark in the puzzle box. They locate the only furniture store in New York that uses wood from that tree and, lo and behold, there's someone with a record who works there. But he has an airtight alibi. The bark is actually a clue left by Mac's stalker, intended to lead him to the Tribune Tower in Chicago.
  • Stock Scream: The classic "Wilhelm Scream" can be heard during the brawl.
  • Sequel Episode: This episode ends with Mac standing on a curbside in Chicago listening to his stalker on the phone; the story will conclude in the next episode, "The Thing about Heroes."
  • Widowed at the Wedding: The groom is murdered in the wee hours the morning of the wedding and is discovered by his bride minutes before the ceremony.
