"Recycling" is the twelfth episode of Season 1. It originally aired January 12, 2005.
Synopsis:
At a dog show, one of the owners is found impaled by a knitting needle. Meanwhile, a bike messenger has been stabbed to death along his route.Tropes for the episode:
- Animal Reaction Shot: Subverted. The beagle's owner is insistent that Mac has almost driven him to tears, "Just *look* at my dog!" Cut to the beagle...with a perfectly bland expression.
- Kinky Role-Playing: One of the dog owners has a dog fetish. She likes for her and her partners to pretend to be dogs when they have sex, even to the point of having one of them bite her on the thigh during the act. She lets her real dog watch, too.
- Series Continuity Error: Two.
- Danny's badge number in the scene with the paroled pedophile is 8946. In the rest of the series, that is Stella's number and Danny's is 9104.
- Minor example. Stella says she can't remember ever seeing Mac without a tie, but he didn't wear one at all in the backdoor pilot, CSI: Miami's episode 2.23, "MIA/NYC Nonstop," and they shared several scenes.
- Side Bet: After their case is solved, Mac & Stella attend the show and she talks him into betting on the winner.
