Tropes present in the episode:
- Badass Teacher: Harry raids a tenement in search of Trina, who's in the middle of servicing a client.
- Downer Ending: Amy is separated from her newborn child, and the student walkout deteriorates into a full-blown riot.
- First-Name Basis: Colin allows his students to address him by his first name. Scott warns him against doing so.
- Freak Out: Harry roughly rebuffs Ronnie's attempts to console him after his panic attack.
- Gone Horribly Right: Scott instructs the football players to take down the students staging the walkout. This ultimately results in the riot in the ending scene.
- I Did What I Had to Do: Marla maintains she covered for Amy to protect her and her newborn baby.
- Pimping the Offspring: As it turns out, Trina's stepfather is pimping her. Harry is so unnerved by this that he suffers a panic attack.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Marla hits Danny with a blistering one after he reveals the truth about Amy's birth.
- Screaming Birth: Amy in the teaser.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Steven reads Marla the riot act for covering for Amy, who left her newborn in the toilet.
