Recap / Borderlands 2 Captain Scarlett C 07 Whoops

Go To

Shooting the lock that held the Compass piece turned out to be a bad move, as it also broke said piece. So Herbert sends you to the Washburne Refinery, south of Wurmwater, in order to collect the parts needed to create a replacement. After doing so, Scarlett asks you to give Herbert the Gift she sent you with.

The main mission takes place on the Washburne Refinery, which also hosts the sidequests "I Know It When I See It", "Don't Copy That Floppy" and "Freedom of Speech". In addition, the area holds the challenges "Arm Thyself", "I Get It for the Articles" and, of course, "Cult of the Vault".

The mission, the related sidequests and challenges, and the Washburne Refinery area show examples of:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The C3N50RB0T and P3RV-E are malfunctioning loaders obsessed with conservative values and pornography — respectively, of course.
  • Assassination Sidequest:
    • "Freedom of Speech" has C3n50r807 tasking you with killing a DJ who was spreading profanities throughout the radio.
    • "I Know It When I See It" has you destroying a pervert robot called P3RV-E.
  • Babies Ever After: Herbert tells you that when all is said and done Scarlett will marry him and have a hundred babies. Naturally, this doesn't take.
  • BFG: The Pimpernel, a reward from completing the mission "Don't Copy That Floppy", is a sniper rifle that not only causes a high damage on direct hit but also has a "5-point star spread" similar to that of a MIRV on impact. You can easily cause five times the damage!
  • Collection Sidequest:
    • The "I Get It For The Articles" sidequest requires you to collect six packs of pornographic magazines.
    • The "Don't Copy That Floppy" sidequest given to you by C3n50r807 requires you to pick up five floppy disks with pirated software scattered throughout the level.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: C3n50r807 sends you on a mission to kill a profanity-spewing radio DJ. When you actually meet the DJ, his "profanity" is just a lot of infantile, imaginative made-up words that are not, technically speaking, obscene. "Suck my willywack!"
  • Hypocritical Humor: C3n50r807 asks you to kill a DJ for swearing on-air. After you do that and return, what does the bot say? "That DJ was a real asshole!"
  • Magic Floppy Disk: C3n50r807 asks you to stop a bunch of pirates who are illegally downloading the latest games on the ECHOnet. The games are all stored on 1.44MB magnetic floppy disks, and the description says to keep away from sand.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: At the end of the main story mission, Herbert is blown up by the bomb placed in Scarlett's gift.
  • Zeerust: A mission set by C3n50r807 has the Vault Hunters collecting floppy disks.
