Recap / BoBoiBoy S2E1 "Welcome Back, BoBoiBoy!"

Go To

Gopal recaps the previous season finale from 6 months ago; BoBoiBoy defeated Adu Du's Mukalakus robot but had to return home soon after. Somewhere out in space, Bago Go sells Adu Du's spaceship as an antique to another alien of his kind. Back on Earth, Yaya and Ying find Gopal doing overdue homework before class. He claims that he's lost his will to do much with BoBoiBoy being absent. Another student walks in, Fang, who ignores Yaya and Ying's smile and sits at his table to gaze out the window. They consider him rude, and discuss that despite having been here for 6 months, he hasn't talked to anyone and thus has no friends (though he does have numerous admirers).

The teacher announces that they have a new student. Earlier that morning, Tok Aba and Ochobot see BoBoiBoy arrive at the train station. Tok Aba tells him that he has to start school right away, and gives him a uniform. His friends are puzzled by BoBoiBoy's appearance, but greet him ecstatically. Ying asks how old his uniform is, and in another flashback, Tok Aba says that he got it from his (great)-grandfather, and Gopal laughs. Tok Aba tells him to stop, and everyone is surprised to see him at one of the class' tables. He wants to accompany BoBoiBoy on his first day of school, which BoBoiBoy says is unnecessary, but the teacher suggests that he let him stay for today.

After school, BoBoiBoy explains to his friends that his parents allowed him to move to Rintis Island while serving them drinks. Tok Aba gets his grandson to help put up a new sign for the store, but Ochobot sees Fang spying on them from the bushes and faints. Much to everyone's concern, Tok Aba says it's been happening for a while now. His friends help install the sign while BoBoiBoy brings Ochobot home to rest. Meanwhile, Probe returns to the underground base that Adu Du is digging out to inform him that BoBoiBoy has returned. To his surprise, Adu Du considers it good news, as they have another chance to defeat him.

The next day, Gopal and BoBoiBoy arrive early, and the former warns him against the current path he takes home from school, as it goes across an abandoned house that Gopal claims to be haunted. Since 3 months ago, every time he walked there led to him being chased away by a red-eyed black beast, which grew in size with each visit, from the size of a kitten to a tiger. Class starts, and to BoBoiBoy's surprise, Papa Zola is their math teacher. After school that day, BoBoiBoy takes his usual route home, ignoring Gopal's warning (and his overly complicated alternate route). BoBoiBoy enters the abandoned house's gate, and despite hearing noises, doesn't find much else. From the shadows, a creature with sharp teeth and red eyes returns to a person's silhouette, Fang's, with his glasses tinted red.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Tok Aba gives BoBoiBoy a uniform which was handed down to him from his own grandfather (or even further up), and says that it still holds up as he pulls down the pants... which tear at the bottom, much to his surprise. He just tells BoBoiBoy to roll them up to hide the torn parts.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Gopal is chased by a hostile black feline with red eyes on his way home from school multiple times.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The black beast that chases Gopal from the abandoned house has red (and apparently glowing) eyes, but BoBoiBoy just assumes them to be sore eyes. At the end of the episode, Fang appears to be watching BoBoiBoy from the shadows, his clearest feature being the glass of his eyewear tinted a striking red.
