Tropes

  • All There in the Manual: FusionFall revealed that Rojo's fellow bikers are named Azul and Amarillo. Duncan Roleau of Man of Action later revealed that Rojo and Azul are lesbians, while Amarillo is their ally.
  • Amusement Park of Doom: The finale battle between the two groups takes place at an abandoned amusement park. There, Zombozo had put Ben's mother in a Death Trap.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's heavily implied in Zombozo's first scene that he had just buried someone, though it's left quite vague so it can pass in the cartoon.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Zombozo returns for the first time since the original series episode "The Last Laugh", leading the charge in trying to harm Ben's loved ones.
    • Also returning from the original series is Rojo, the woman who accidentally fused with one of Vilgax's drones in The Alliance. She makes a brief appearance where she battles the main trio while attempting to rob a train.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Charmcaster, Vulkanus and Zombozo all work together with the mutual goal of harming Ben's loved ones, but they don't really have much in common outside of that. Charmcaster in particular is far more focused on finishing off Gwen then actually doing anything to Ben or his close family.
  • Break Them by Talking: Gwen ultimately defeats Zombozo not by casting any powerful spells, but rather by giving a very clear-cut warning to what will happen to him should he ever nose about in the Tennyson's lives ever again.
  • Call-Back: Gwen references Ben's first encounter with Zombozo in the original series, though he claims that he has zero memory of the incident.
  • Dented Iron: Max is able to fend off Seven Seven in the cold open, but breaks his arm and passes the buck to Ben and Co for the rest of the story.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Vulkanus attempts to perform an ambush on an isolated Ben...in a hall of mirrors, where he can easily see him coming up behind him. Ben lampshades Vulkanus's lack of forethought in that regard shortly after evading his attack.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: Inverted. Rath manages to destroy Rojo's vehicle by throwing a piece of scrap metal at it. Gwen compliments Rath for taking her down, only for him to admit that he actually was aiming for her head.
  • Foreshadowing: After foiling the train robbery, one of the reporters in the background can be heard asking Ben if he's dating Jennifer Nocturne, a character who will become a focal figure in a later episode.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Despite nearly becoming Drunk with Power the last time she she did it, Gwen assumes her Anodite form to take down Zombozo for good. It works.
  • Horrifying the Horror: Just like in his first apperance, Zombozo is ultimately terrified into submission by an enraged Tennyson after putting a relative of theirs in serious danger. In this case though, it's Gwen's Anodite form, rather than Ghostfreak.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Gwen gives this warning to Zombozo in her Anodite form when she saves Ben's mother.
Gwen: You have no idea who you're dealing with.
Zombozo: We've seen what your cousin can do.
Gwen: I'm not talking about him. I want you to listen to me, then pass the word to every lowlife you know; if you want to come after Ben, or Kevin, or me, fine. That's the life we chose. I'm talking to you. LOOK AT ME! (is now in full Anodite form) LOOK AT ME! As of right now, the Tennyson family is off. Limits! If any of you ever attacks one of our loved ones, or hurts one of our loved ones, or even bumps into someone we love in the street, this is what awaits you!
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Subverted. Ben pretends to have forgotten who Zombozo was after protecting Carl from him, though Word of God claims that he only did so to avoid having to admit in front of Kevin that he used to be terrified of clowns as a kid. This is backed up in the episode itself, as Ben later refers to Zombozo by name and figures out where he will have set up his base after his mother is kidnapped, showcasing his familiarity with the clown.
  • It's All My Fault: Gwen feels this way after losing Sandra to Zombozo, with Ben's anger not helping her mindset. Kevin helps them both focus on trying to get Sandra back.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Back in the original series, Zombozo drained Gwen's happiness from her body to torment Ben. Several years later, he ends up at the mercy of Gwen's Anodite form, terrorizing him pretty badly.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: The trio does this at the abandoned amusement park they track Zombozo too, resulting in the three of them fighting the three main villains individually.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: When Ben asks Gwen where Zombozo is at the end of the episode, her response is, "You don't have to worry about him anymore. We… came to an understanding." We never see exactly what Gwen did to him earlier while giving him a firm warning about attacking her friends or family but, judging by his appearance in Omniverseit wasn't pretty.
  • Opponent Switch: Zombozo, Charmcaster and Vulkanus are bitter enemies with Ben, Gwen and Kevin respectively. When the gang splits up in the amusement park though, they don't fight their respective rival: Ben fights Vulkanus in the Hall of Mirrors attraction, Kevin battles Charmcaster outside the Ferris Wheel, and Gwen confronts Zombozo in the circus tent itself.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Gwen seeing her aunt forced to balance on a flaming tightrope for Zombozo's cruel sadism enrages Gwen to break free of her bonds and transform into her Anodite form for the first time since Alien Force, terrifying the clown out of his wits.
  • Sizeshifter: When confronting Zombozo in her Anodite form, Gwen grows to the size of a giant and causes her hair to flow Medusa-style, all as she bellows threats to him should he ever try to harm both her and Ben's loved ones ever again.
  • Verbal Backspace: When Gwen takes charge against an attack.
Gwen: Get behind me, Aunt Sandra.
Sandra: I’m the adult here, I should… (Gwen conjures up some mana projectiles) stay behind my superpowered niece, carry on.
  • Villain Team-Up: Zombozo teams up with Vulkanus and Charmcaster in order to defeat Ben.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Two ways in the same conversation. Ben yells at Gwen for allowing his mother to be kidnapped and Kevin chews him out for playing the blame game instead of actually looking for the villains.
