Tropes in this episode

  • The Bad Guy Wins: The episode ends with Vilgax successfully escaping from Incarcecon and getting back to Vilgaxia
  • Berserk Button: EightEight wasn't happy when Ben claimed that she resembles her brothers.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: Vilgax had the occasion to easily kill Ben while he was unconscious and in human form, but instead decides to just escape the prison while leaving Ben and everyone else alive.
  • Enemy Mine: Ben attempts to form a truce with Attea, considering that they both hate Vilgax. Attea, however, still wants revenge on Ben and refuses as a result.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Vilgax throws himself in front of Ben when Attea shoots at him… so his manacles would get destroyed by the blast, allowing him to escape.
  • Not Me This Time: When the Plumbers are escorting Vilgax to a high-security prison in Incarcecon, they get attacked and Ben immediately assumes this is part of Vilgax's plan to escape. Vilgax, however, assures he has nothing to do with it. Turns out he is telling the truth: the attack was from Princess Attea, who wants him dead.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Ben tries to make a truce with her and form a deal concerning their mutual enemy Vilgax. Attea flat out refuses because she still wants revenge for Ben imprisoning her in stasis jail, and promptly attacks him, leading Ben to immediately rescind his offer and fight back. Therefore, making Attea’s mission even more difficult than it already.
  • Villain Has a Point: Vilgax's argument to defend himself when accused of being behind the escape (that he would have perished with them had he tried to destroy the place) makes perfect sense. Vilgax also tells Ben that, while Ben could easily be rid of him by giving him to Attea, it will only allow the Incurseans to take over not only Vilgaxia, but by extension more planets.
  • Villainous Rescue: Vilgax saves Ben from being shot by Attea, not actually to save him, but to damage his manacles to the point where he could break free.
