Tyler encounters some friction at work.
A man named Tyler crashes his truck and doesn't remember anything about his past. He goes to the police for help, who turn out to be DNAliens. He gets rescued by the team and slowly his memories begin to return.- Bittersweet Ending: Tyler was saved and successfully cured, but the DNAliens are able to continue with their warp gate construction project. Ben rallies Gwen and Kevin at the end by reminding them that as long as they're alive, they'll fight the Highbreed with all they've got.
- Foreshadowing: Two of them. First, Tyler's pretty strong for a mere man. And second, as Ben points out, there's no way a normal guy could've crawled out of the wreck of a semi-truck and lived to tell about it.
- Friend-or-Idol Decision: Our heroes are faced with this choice towards the climax. They could allow the DNAliens to reclaim the key but also save Tyler. Or they could retrieve the key, but then Tyler would be brainwashed into succumbing to his DNAlien nature, which would be tragic given he's one of the rare few to barely maintain his will. Thankfully, the group not only chooses to save Tyler, but restore his humanity as well.
- Internal Reveal: For a while, Ben and his friends were in the dark as to what the Highbreed intended with their gateways. Tyler's the first to let them know what the audience has suspected for some time: the Highbreed aren't using the gateways to travel some place else, but to come to Earth to somehow conquer it.
- Once More, with Clarity: Tyler often has flashbacks of how he stole the semi-truck containing the key and narrowly escaped. After learning he's a DNAlien, Tyler has a flashback revealing he was tasked with taking the key to its destination.
- Rule of Symbolism: When Tyler learns he's a DNAlien, he takes a broken side-mirror from the semi-truck wreck and looks at his equally broken reflection. He crushes it, indicating how shattered he feels. After Ben cures his condition and returns him to a human, Gwen hands him an unbroken compact mirror, which reflects his mind being whole again.
- Tractor Beam: The DNAliens use one to try to steal the Oscillator Key and abduct Tyler.
