• Armor-Piercing Question: Blue Beetle is unimpressed with the Green Latern Oath, dismissing it as mere poetry.
  Guy: A sacred oath. That's what I stand for, bug boy. What do you stand for?
• Call-Back: Batman advises Guy to behave by recalling the punch.
• Changed My Mind, Kid: After Blue Beetle proves himself to be worthy of the scarab, Guy's attitude towards him changes.
• Fiery Redhead: Despite being satisfied with seeing that Blue Beetle served justice to Evil Star after his fight with Evil Star, it doesn't take long before Guy's attitude changes after Evil Star is brought to one of Oa's holding cells, leaving him and the rest of the Green Lantern to tend to their next order of business and that is making Jaime surrender his scarab to them.
• Flashback: To Batman punching out Guy in "The Eyes of Despero!", which Guy still insists was a lucky punch.
• Giant Spider: On Dinosaur Island, Batman and the Challengers of the Unknown are attacked by one. It's believed the meteorite's radiation caused this mutation.
• "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Batman tries this with Jamie in the control. It gets him blasted, though Batman reasons it not being a lethal blast is a hopeful sign.
• It Has Been an Honor: Guy to his fellow Green Lanterns when it looks like the Reach is about to win.
• It's the Only Way: Almost towards the end of the episode, Batman comes up with a plan to have Guy and the other Green Lanterns focus their ring energy to Jaime's suit in order for him to stop the Reach invasion. Guy is unsure at first, but then decides to go through with the plan.
• Just Following Orders: Guy even says this word for word to Jaime during his first visit to Oa.
• No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: The Scarab briefly takes control when fighting Evil Star and literally hammers him. Batman has to snap Jamie out of it, thinking he was just getting carried away.
• Noodle Incident: Batman was near Dinosaur Island, due to just wrapping up an adventure in the Devil's Triangle.
• Nothing Personal: Before assuming control, the Scarab says this to Jamie and insists this is just part of the programming.
• Oh, Crap!: Upon setting foot in Oa, Blue Beetle is shocked at Guy's initial hostility towards him after he did him a favor by serving justice to Evil Star.
• Resistance Is Futile:
  • The Reach's forces tell the Green Lantern Corps that their only options are surrender or die.
  • The Scarab tells this Jamie outright, while trying to solidify control.
• To Be Continued: The Batman Cold Open ends with the Challengers of the Unknown being overtaken by Starro's spores.
• Wham Shot: After Batman leaves, the meteorite cracks open and reveals dozens of Starro spores.
