Recap / Avengers Assemble S 2 E 12 Widows Run

Go To

The Avengers have successfully gather four of the remaining Infinity Stones, with the exception of the Power Stone Thanos possesses. With his return inevitable, the Guardians of the Galaxy contact them in hopes of taking the Stones elsewhere, but Tony insists on keeping them locked up.

Chaos ensues when Black Widow and Thor plot to take the Stones with a plan to destroy them. What's worse, their cosmic power is revealed to have a corruptive influence to anyone contact with it.

Can Widow find a way before she falls for their temptation?

  • Artifact of Attraction: The Infinity Stones tempt anyone who comes near them with whispers of using their power. Heimdall only needs to be near them for a moment before getting visions of overthrowing Odin.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Widow gains them when she finally gives in to the Stones and uses their power.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Dormammu gets involved in the fight over the Stones, but his role in the episode is mostly just standing around going "roar" until Nat finally banishes him.
  • Heroic Willpower: Only Nat's SHIELD training can get her to resist the whispers of the Stones, and even she's aware it won't hold forever.
  • I Gave My Word: Thor's word is his bond, so when Nat asks him to agree to stop her if she uses the Stones, he does so, however reluctantly.
  • I Was Never Here: Hulk initially stands in Nat and Thor's way, but when Nat persuades him, he stands aside, telling them he never saw them.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: The Guardians of the Galaxy, drawn by the allure of the Stones, attack Nat. The Avengers, having come to their senses, help her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Said by Nat when she snaps out of the Stone-induced power high.
  • Not Himself: At the episode's beginning, Tony's far more short-tempered than usual, outright smashing his stuff in a bad mood with Star-Lord, since the Stones are already working on him.
