Go To

Michael thinks George Michael has started using marijuana, but Buster asked George Michael for it to treat Lucille Austero's vertigo. Maeby spends time with grandmother Lucille, but Lindsay resents their bond.

The Arrested Development episode "Pier Pressure" provides examples of:

  • Comically Missing the Point: GOB when Michael is upset about his son's new addiction only cares about how little Michael's son wanted to spend on his addiction.
Michael: This is impossible. Why would he do this?
GOB: I know. I was shocked. Really, a hundred dollars. You can't get good weed for a hundred bucks.
  • Drugs Are Bad: The episode focusses on Michael worrying about George Michael becoming addicted to weednote , and drugs are portrayed in a mostly-negative light. However, the Stock Aesop is also parodied given how much the adult characters freak out over it.
  • Ignored Confession: At the end George Michael confesses about his crush on Maeby but his father thinks it was a joke.
  • Pun-Based Title: On "peer pressure", as the episode deals with a father's role in teaching their son values and concludes with a fake drug deal by the pier.
  • Scare 'Em Straight: George Sr.'s regular approach to his kids, involving a one-armed ex-employee who pretends to be an innocent bystander who somehow loses his arm due to whatever he wants them to stop.
  • Spoof Aesop: Michael's father wants his son not to scare lessons into his lessons, so he hires a friend to make it seem like Michael's lesson caused a shoot-out that resulted in a cop losing his arm to a drug dealer, teaching his son the lesson not to teach lessons to your son.
"And that's why... you don't teach lessons to your son."
