Recap / Archer S 8 E 6 Waxing Gibbous

Go To

Everyone heads on a collision course for the stolen ransom money, and a dangerous encounter.

  • Ascended Extra: Trinette somehow ends up part of the group despite being ditched by Archer in the previous episode. Then again, she wants to punish Archer for pushing her off the car while it was driving down the road.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: The ending is one of the most violent moments in Archer history.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Cecil shows up wearing a different outfit than in the last episode; when asked about it, he explained that he "evacuated himself" when the shooting started.
  • Call-Back: Cyril threatens to shoot Poovey in the... genitals.
  • Dead Guy Puppet/Desecrating the Dead: Barry places Trexler as a centerpiece for a The Last Supper reenactment, with a fish and a dozen dead bodies.
  • Dirty Coward: For all of his threats to Poovey, the minute Figgis realizes Archer's in the building he sends Poovey out while he stays in the room clutching the money like a teddy bear or a security blanket.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Trinette, a prostitute who stated how she doesn't judge people, was disgusted with Cecil's preference for incest.
  • Impersonating an Officer: Trinette attempts to steal Lana's car, but fails when she discovers Lana's rank.
  • Intimidating Revenue Service: Lana turns out to be an undercover IRS Agent.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Dutch turns the last few minutes of the episode into a genuine horror story.
  • "Last Supper" Steal: Dutch stages possibly the most gruesome version in history.
  • The Load: Cecil and Trinette; unfortunately for Lana, she ends up having to investigate with both of them tagging along.
  • Mushroom Samba: Running on three sleepless nights and whatever pills Charlotte gave him, Archer starts going a tad loopy. He even does his noir monologue to an empty passenger seat.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: The venture into Trexler's mansion is delightfully spooky and suspenseful.
  • Oh, Crap!: Trinette tries to commandeer Lana's car while Impersonating an Officer, only to discover she's part of the IRS.
  • The Starscream: Dutch appears to have usurped Trexler at the end.
  • Skewed Priorities: Cecil seems to care more about getting his bag(it was a gift) back than the million-dollar ransom, or confirming his sister's safety.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Cecil and Trinette both call the glove compartment the "potato compartment".
