Recap / Archer S 4 E 3 Legs

Go To

Archer's fear of cyborgs hits home when Krieger offers to make robotic legs for the wheelchair-bound Gillette.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Air-Vent Passageway: Archer tries to use these to get from the Armory (where he was locked in) to Krieger's lab (where Ray is being given bionic legs). Predictably, Archer gets lost, something he predicted in the past, but Malory ignored his suggestion that they put signs inside of the ducts. Lana further thwarts him by having the facilities guy crank up the heat so that Archer passes out.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Brett gets shot by Archer again, despite being on a completely different floor.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Apparently even Archer thinks Cheryl's fetish for physical and emotional violence is weird.
  • Gag Penis: When Pam questions how Krieger can give Ray a functioning penis.
Pam: How is that....supposed to fit inside another human being?!
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Archer slaps Cheryl to get her to stop ranting about Skynet. Being Cheryl, she actually enjoys it and asks him to do it again, to his dismay.
  • Hollywood Healing: Even by the standards of the show. Despite the horrific nature of the procedure, thanks to Krieger's "proprietary blend" of drugs, being partially converted into a cyborg is apparently an outpatient procedure and Ray can go home immediately afterward.
  • Humiliation Conga: Ray's morning is several minutes of him suffering as a disabled man. Then he finds Archer stole his handicap parking spot (two of them).
  • Meatgrinder Surgery: The surgery to install Ray's bionic legs gets incredibly messy. Krieger and Pam are both covered in smears of blood and Pam drops a beer can into the open wounds. Despite this, it's a complete success and Ray doesn't suffer any complications.
  • No Sympathy: Brett gets shot yet again, and no one seems to bother to see if he's okay or if he needs medical aid.
Archer: Brett, this might be some sort of of record so if you can move, don't!
  • Noodle Incident: Something unspeakable happened on a 'Fourth of Jul-Luau' event. All we know is that it involved Archer and a pig.
  • Oh, Crap!: Archer heavily disapproves of Ray's surgery because he doesn't want to deal with a potential third cyborg (less so when it's Ray). His worries are completely unfounded this time, though.
  • Stealing the Handicapped Spot: Archer parked his El Camino in Ray's spot. Provides the page image.
