After the death of yet another agent, ISIS needs a new operative and a racial minority, and Malory hires Conway Stern, a black, Jewish man, to fill the position. Meanwhile, Archer is worried that Conway has his sights set on marrying Malory and cutting him out of her will.
This episode provides examples of:
- An Arm and a Leg: Conway's hand is ripped off during his escape as he loses the briefcase.
- Characterization Marches On: After she has sex with Conway, Crystal/Carol/Cheryl hopes she's pregnant. In later episodes she is utterly squicked out by anything involving babies or childbirth.
- Erotic Asphyxiation: If you look closely on Crystal's neck after she and Conway have sex, you can see red marks around her neck. A few episodes later she will go into far too much detail about her obsession with being choked.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Malory accuses a suspecting Lana of being this just because Conway, another black ("'Urban'. Whatever") and skilled agent is on the team, and suspends her for it. Cyril does not, but gets a black eye for the simple notion that she's jealous.
- Hand Wave: While figuring out Conway's role as the newest agent, Archer mentions that he was uncircumcised following their locker room encounter. While Lana attempts to gloss over how he knows this (they touched penises), she does seem briefly concerned why a Jewish person like Conway remains this.
- Have I Mentioned I Am Heterosexual Today?: During a scuffle in the locker room, Archer and Conway state that they're both straight, despite the awkward Homoerotic Subtext that lurks there.
- Insane Troll Logic: Cheryl believes that a bag of shrimp is a good "aphrodisiac" for Jewish people, and tries to seduce Conway with it. Somehow, it works, and they were able to get it on.
- In the Back: Conway literally does this to Archer before attempting to leave Miami with the plans.
- Irony: Just as Archer decides not to kill Conway, Conway stabs him in the back.
- Monochrome Casting: Lampshaded and discussed. ISIS has been lacking enough minority agents to be granted additional funding (mostly because Archer keeps having them killed by blowing their cover via drunk calls). Up until the end of the Cold Opening, when they introduce Conway as the latest minority agent, Malory states the agency has been "decidedly monochromatic".
- Mr. Fanservice: Conway has a toned body and he attracts a few female cast members.
- Noodle Incident: During the Cold Opening, Malory wraps up "Item 6", threatening to put a lock on "it" if misused again. Whatever the subject is seems to upset Archer the most.
- Right for the Wrong Reasons: Lana is completely right to be suspicious of Conway, but her suspicion of him seems to stem mostly from professional jealousy.
- Sexy Discretion Shot: After delivering shrimp to Conway, he and Crystal have an off-screen sex scene.
- Skewed Priorities: Even after being betrayed, Archer is more concerned if Conway banged his mother than his real name and motives.
- The Un-Reveal:Conway: You haven't seen the last of Conway Stern! Which isn't my real name!
- Twofer Token Minority: Conway, who's both African-American and Jewish, provides the trope image and the episode title.Malory: He's a diversity double-whammy!
- Vomit Discretion Shot: Archer vomits off-screen after Pam tells him that his complaint against Conway is rejected and after he learns that his mother is involved with Conway.
- We Will Meet Again: Conway says they haven't seen the last of him. Archer and Lana would eventually run into him again in "Three To Tango".
