Master Shake receives a phone call from the Plutonians, who pose as Hollywood casting directors offering him a part in a movie. They lure him to their spaceship, where he is whisked into space while an extremely shoddy-looking clone is left behind and told to carry out his mission (which he wasn't given). Being a relatively decent individual as opposed to Shake, his guise is immediately seen through. When he uses Frylock's computer to contact them and find out what his mission is, they only give him weak excuses. Eventually, he steals Carl's car and leaves.

"Bad Replicant" contains examples of:

  • Alleged Lookalikes: Oglethorpe claims that Major Shake is a "perfect" clone of the original Shake when he very clearly isn't, looking more like a soggy roll of toilet paper with high heels, a hand growing out of his straw, and most bizarrely of all, a stereo lodged in the side of his head.
  • Body Horror: Major Shake. Downplayed in that he seems pretty cool about it.
  • Clone Angst: Major Shake glumly notes that he looks nothing like Master Shake and that he knows he's an abomination.
  • Clone Degeneration: Major Shake is a physically mutated and clearly failed clone of Shake. Not only are his attempts to pass himself off as the original pathetically obvious, he also turns out to be much kinder and more rational than Shake, and Shake's friends actually like him better than the Jerkass original.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • The Plutonians mention the events from "Space Conflict from Beyond Pluto"
    • Frylock repeats the same line he said in "Space Conflict from Beyond Pluto" when taking to Carl.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The Plutonians entire "plan" is this.
  • Evil Plan: Averted, the Plutonian's keep changing their plans, much to the confusion of Major Shake.
  • Missing Steps Plan: The Plutonians plan to "Deterraform" the Earth with Major Shake replicating an army is missing a lot of steps. Not helped by the fact they never tell him what his part is nor how to do it.
  • No Ending: The episode ends with the Plutonians running away from their now destroyed ship.
  • Only Sane Man: Major Shake is this to the Plutonians.
  • Preferable Impersonator: Major Shake is much nicer than the original Shake, so Frylock and Meatwad prefer him.
  • Sequel Episode: To "Space Conflict from Beyond Pluto"
  • Special Effect Failure: In-universe, Shake immediately knew that the lasers around him were just special effects.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Both Shake and Major Shake call pipes "Space Age Tubes".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The Plutonians run away once their ship crashes onto the Aqua Teen's lawn.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: The Plutonians have become even more dumb than their last appearance.
