Recap / Angry Birds Toons S1E3 "Full Metal Chuck"

Go To

Chuck puts the Blues through their paces on a military training course, but who will come out on top?

Tropes:

  • Always Second Best: While Chuck struggles on his own obstacle courses, the Blues breeze through them with style, much to his chagrin.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: The Blues can easily clear Chuck's obstacle courses just as fast or faster than Chuck himself, but would rather goof off and sleep.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Of the coach variety. Chuck tries to be one to the Blues, but they manage to trick him into getting tied up so they can sleep some more.
  • Gratuitous English: If you listen closely, you can hear one of the Blues shout "Bye!" to Chuck after he launches himself from the slingshot.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Chuck launches himself out of a slingshot while blindfolded, in a straightjacket and tied to an anchor to impress the Blues. He crashes into the side of a cliff, then is left dangling under it unable to free himself. The Blues lampshade it by laughing at him.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is a reference to Full Metal Jacket.
  • Smug Snake: Chuck smugly tries to demonstrate how his training course works to the Blues, but he always ends up faltering in some way. This ends up being his downfall when he tries to show off while using the slingshot, causing him to get stuck.
  • Smug Super: By contrast, the Blues are not only able to perfectly get by the obstacles, but do so with added flair (such as wearing blindfolds).
