Recap / Andromeda S 1 E 11 The Pearls That Were His Eyes

Go To

Beka receives a message from her father's business partner, "Uncle" Sid, asking for help. Meanwhile, Dylan works to build capital for the ship.

  • Actually, I Am Him: Beka asks if Sid works for Sam Profit. He then corrects her, saying that he is Sam Profit.
  • Chekhov's Gun: When Beka first arrives, Sid gives her a card with unlimited credit. After Beka finds out the truth about Sid's crimes and he tries to kill her, she bluffs that she has given the recording to a courier to be delivered in case of her death. Sid claims she can't afford a courier, only for Beka to show him the card he gave her.
  • Fantastic Drug: Flash. As Sid says, five milligrams today, five milligrams tomorrow, and the next day, you'll be selling your firstborn for one milligram more.
  • Garage Sale: Dylan holds one, calling it "an old Earth custom," in order to ensure the ship has money. He gets touchy when finding personal effects of his crew in the sell pile, saying that they'll stay.
  • There Are No Coincidences: Sid is very suspicious that Beka came to him on the eve of a major business takeover.
  • We Will Spend Credits in the Future: The Commonwealth apparently used credits, which are no longer compatible with the various hard currencies used in the known worlds.
  • Worthless Currency: The Andromeda Ascendant's accounts of Commonwealth currency are no longer worth anything.
Dylan: Oh, we have plenty of currency. It's just none of it's...current.
