Intent on winning over Wartwood, Marcy makes a plan to improve the town.

    Full Recap
TBA...

Tropes:

  • Bittersweet Ending: Marcy's attempts to win over everyone in Wartwood backfire and she accidentally destroys the town, almost killing everyone and earning their anger. However, the villagers also note that she's essentially just like Anne was when she first arrived too, meaning that they're probably learn to like Marcy eventually just like they did with Anne ("whether [they] want to or not"). They also accept Marcy's offer to repair the damage she did to the town for them.
  • Breather Episode: This is the first of four segments to take a break from the temple missions, to Anne and the Plantar's request in the previous episode.
  • Character Development: When everybody gets mad at Marcy for her changes to Wartwood almost destroying the town, Mayor Toadstool tries to take (some of) the blame. Yeah, you read that right.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Marcy mentions early on that the town is constructed in such a way that it's too light to sink into the swamp it's built upon. Naturally, renovating the town with heavy marble exteriors and gold statues sends it over the weight limit.
  • Continuity Nod: At the end of the episode, Anne mentions how she tried to win over Wartwood only to cause disasters, mentioning specifically when she set the town on fire.
  • Delayed Reaction: Anne tells Marcy that following Mayor Toadstool's plan would be a bad idea, and she says Anne is probably right. Cut to her fidgeting around at night.
    Marcy: NO, YOU'RE NOT!
  • Early-Bird Cameo: For Rosemary, Ginger, and Lavender, the Flour Triplets, before their proper introduction in "Maddie & Marcy".
  • Easily Forgiven: While the villagers of Wartwood are still mad at Marcy for her misguided attempts to fit in, they forgive her since she reminds them of Anne during her first time in Amphibia, and agree to let bygones be bygones even before Marcy sets about repairing the damage.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Anne is a bit baffled that part of the mob wanting to get Marcy at first includes Polly, who’s practically a part of her family.
  • Foreshadowing: Mayor Toadstool trying to take some of the blame for the town's near-destruction hints at his growing affection for the town, which is fully explored two segments later.
  • Genre Savvy: Anne knows quite well how Marcy will want to act to get Wartwood to accept her and pushes her to just be patient and let it happen naturally instead of trying to force it. Sure enough, she isn't that shocked when Marcy does exactly what she expected.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Mayor Toadstool declares of the disaster he helped cause:
Mayor Toadstool: I refuse to learn anything from this!
  • Immediate Sequel: This episode is directly set after "The First Temple" due to Marcy chanting "First day in Wartwood!"
  • Innocently Insensitive: Marcy is determined to have the villagers of Wartwood accept her even though it takes time for her to fit in like Anne did but she does so without any intention to hurt anyone.
  • Luminescent Blush: For some undisclosed reason, Anne has one while talking with Marcy.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: While everyone is reasonably mad at Marcy for destroying their town, the villagers admit that Anne was exactly the same way, so it's likely that they will eventually get around to liking her too "whether [they] want to or not."
  • Out of Focus: Sprig, Hop Pop, and Polly. Sprig appears briefly with no lines, while Polly and Hop Pop only get one line each in the entire episode.
  • Person of Mass Construction: Marcy and Anne manage to fix all the basic deficiencies around Wartwood inside of a day. Marcy follows that up by renovating the entire town in the middle of the night without anyone noticing. Once that ends in disaster, she puts her skills to use by repairing all the homes she broke.
  • Pet the Dog: Mayor Toadstool actually tries to step in and shoulder "a bit of the blame" when the townsfolk start chewing Marcy out.
  • Quirky Girl, Quirky Tux: Marcy, along with Mayor Toadstool, wears a showman suit with a top hat as they introduce the revamped Wartwood.
  • Remembered I Could Fly:
    • The townsfolk panic as Wartwood sinks into the swamp, but Mrs. Croaker points out that the situation is not so bad for them, as they are frogs after all. However, they are still vulnerable to collapsing architecture.
    • Joe Sparrow initially flees along with the townsfolk from the bugs that emerge from the Toadstool costume, but then returns and starts eating them.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stock Audio Clip: Anne saying "Five more minutes" in her sleep is reused from "A Night at the Inn".
  • Title Drop: Marcy and Toadstool both say the episode's title while showing the townsfolk the new and improved Wartwood.
  • Torches and Pitchforks: A small mob of frogs does this in response to Marcy trying to make friends. Including Polly.
Polly: I go where the mob goes, Anne!

Polly Goes With the Mob

When Anne tells an angry mob to leave Marcy alone, she's shocked that Polly is actually among them. The polliwog justifies by saying she goes where the mob goes.
