Recap / American Dad! S9E11 "Max Jets"

Go To

Roger resurrects his character Max Jets, a wealthy geriatric who showers the Smith family with money. However, a gold digger soon becomes involved and takes Roger's interest.

Tropes:

  • Brutal Honesty: The rest of the family tries to gently explain to Roger that Gina is only interested in his money, before cutting to Stan bluntly saying she's a gold digger.
Stan: Wake up, leprechaun! She's after your gold!
  • Delayed Reaction: Francine takes a minute to realize what Roger dating Gina means for the rest of the family.
  • Dirty Old Man: Max Jets is very old and flirts with women much younger than him. He also plays a game that basically involves fondling Steve's chest for an extended period of time.
  • Gainax Ending: When Roger is questioned about how he survived when he apparently died twice, once as Max Jets and then as his "son" Jerry, he merely replies he can't as the episode has ended.
  • Gold Digger: Gina is a classic case, even singing a song about how she only cares for money.
    My heart is pure
    Purely for money
Money from people whom I don't love
    Old men disgust me
    I'd never love one
    Unless he gave me moneeeeeeeey!
  • Hypocrite: The Smiths are completely right about Gina being after Max Jets for his money, but only because they want to keep him as their sugar daddy.
  • Oh, Crap!: The family tells Roger to confront Gina on her selfish behavior, including flirting with other men in front of him. They smugly watch as Gina cries while Roger seems to scold her...and then he gets down on one knee, much to their horror.
Stan: Please be a bomb. Please be a ring bomb!
  • Oh Look, More Rooms!: Roger converts the basement into a recording studio for Gina. Stan lampshades the sudden change.
Stan: What happened to the basement? Where's the water heater?
