Go To

Stan begins worshipping Roger when he reveals that he played on the gold-medal-winning 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team ("The Miracle on Ice"), but Stan's vision of Roger is shattered when Roger revealed that he took steroids to up the team's chances of winning. Meanwhile, Stan's coworker Reginald tries to bond with Hayley.

Episode Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Stan's attempts to return Roger's gold medal to the Winter Olympics committee goes this route as, not only did they know about the drug abuse to win, but they don't care about it.
  • Badass Adorable: Reginald might be a human in the body of a koloa bear, but he is also a trained C.I.A. agent, as the douchebag at the Shaggy concert found out the hard way.
  • Been There, Shaped History: Roger helped the U.S. hockey team win the 1980's gold medal and was part of the Miracle on Ice moment.
  • Broken Pedestal: Once Stan learns that Roger used steroids to help the U.S. hockey team win, he is distraught to the point where he throws away his memorabilia wall. He is equally devastated when he learns that Ronald Reagan, who he respects the most out of all the Presidents, knew about the doping and bribed the committee to turn the other way.
  • Cassandra Truth: Initially, Stan refused to believe that Roger was a member of the 1980's U.S. Olympic hockey team as he believed the latter was bragging (though to be fair, it is Roger we're talking about). It's only when he sees Roger interact with the other hockey members is when Stan realizes that he is telling the truth.
  • Mood Whiplash: The ending gives us a nice moment where Steve helps Stan learn that he shouldn't forget the good the U.S. hockey team and Reagan did to shape him in the man he is today, only to swerve to Roger biting off Stan's finger for no other reason than he felt like it.
