It's King Julien's school reunion, and someone from his past has returned with a vengeance.

- Cerebus Retcon: Julien has often made references to the fact that people have to like him because he's royalty, but the implication that this could literally be the case seems to genuinely hurt Julien.
- Continuity Nod: Karl defends Julien with his laser gun. Karl monologues between shots, subtly referencing the previously stated fact that the gun takes a while to recharge.
- Didn't Think This Through: The lemurs stand up to the fossa to invoke The Power of Friendship and show Julien they do care about him, but since it's a group of lemurs versus a pack of hungry fossa, the battle turns out poorly.
- Everyone Went to School Together: It turns out Karl was in King Julien's class, but Julien never acknowledged his existence in any way, a fact that tormented Karl to no end.
- Falling-in-Love Montage: One of these plays during a flashback where Karl first met Chauncey.
- False Friend: Karen was only dating Julien for the status of dating the prince, and part of her plan to get revenge for being stood up is to imply that nobody actually likes Julien and were all also only pretending to like him because he was royalty.
- Flanderization: A minor example; in his debut episode, Karl uses a springboard trap to get Julien into his lair. Here he appears to have an entire network of conveniently placed springboard traps that he uses as personal transport.
- Four-Fingered Hands: Part of Karen's deformity is that her paw has five fingers instead of four. She wears a four-fingered glove to hide this.
- Fun with Acronyms: While everyone shares stories of their prom night, Clover's is of a free for all fight known as the Pugilistic Ruckus Of Mayhem.
- High-School Dance: The Lemur School reunion is Prom themed.
- Manipulative Editing: Karen does some of this to prove nobody actually likes him, particularly implying Maurice was paid to be Julien's friend, when he was actually paid to be Julien's attendant, and became his friend over time.
- Not Me This Time: Despite being present, Karl actually has nothing to do with the evil scheme and is genuinely there just to have a good time, having met his best friend Chauncey back during school Prom.
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Karl is the one who ends up saving the day, citing this trope as the reason why.Karen: This has nothing to do with you, guy with a cockroach for a best friend!Karl: This has everything to do with me! Julien and I are locked in an epic battle of light and dark! He is my nemesis, and I am his. I can't have you and your pedestrian little "rope trap and a pack of fossa" plan get in the way of that! - Sour Supporter: While Hector also shows up and helps fight for Julien, he makes sure to add "I do not" to every claim the lemurs make that everyone loves Julien.
- Villains Out Shopping: Karl doesn't have a scheme this time around, he's just on a date with Chauncey.
- Woman Scorned: While Julien believed Karen was killed by fossa, She simply left the kingdom after he stood her up for prom, and plotted revenge by making him think he has no friends, and then feeding him to fossa.
