Continues from De Slag Om Polderstadt (Escape From The Crows Party)

Dolf and the NCP march into the castle to depose Franz Ferdinand, who flees to Broad Reedland. Only the dissappearance of Dolf's funds could break his regime now. Alfred and Rangpang sneak back to Polderstad on a mission to rob the NCP.

Continues in De Bevrijding (The Decline And Fall Of Emperor Dolf)

Tropes:

  • Chest of Medals: General Brüll.
  • Cliffhanger: Alfred and Rangpang are caught up in the fight between the redshirsts and the protestors in front of the castle.
  • Corrupt Church: Having previously been open to dealing with the NCP and only rejected them because they didn't give him money, the archbishop of Waterland now enters into a deal with Dolf and gets paid one hundred for it.
  • The Coup: The NCP marches on the castle and seizes power in the episode's beginning.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: Alfred and Rangpang use stolen NCP uniforms to travel through Polderstadt. Unforeseeably, it gets them sent directly to the castle with actual redshirts to fight protestors and act as castle guards.
  • Dub Name Change:
    • The finnish dub renames general Brüll "general Kurnu", which refers to the word for croaking.
    • The finnish dub calls Broad Reedland "Suurvesimaa" ("Great Waterland"), which is Waterland's english name. It's made more confounding because Waterland's finnish name is still "Vesimaa", which literally means "waterland".
  • The Exile: King Franz and one of his ministers flee to the neighboring Reedland once Dolf seizes power in Waterland.
  • Furry Reminder: Alfred swims like a normal duck instead of like a human.
  • Gone Swimming, Clothes Stolen: When Alfred tricks two NCP redshirts into stripping and jumping into a canal, Alfred and Rangpang run off with their uniforms.
  • Government in Exile: King Franz's, colonel Rangpang's, and Sir Poen's skeleton assembly propably counts.
  • Hollywood Drowning: Alfred does this. Justified since he was pretending and the entire point was to attract attention and lure some redshirts over there.
  • High-Class Glass: Rangpang is still wearing his while disguised as an NCP redshirt, which is somehow not suspicious.
  • Manchild: King Franz still doesn't comprehend the situation when Dolf and the NCP march on the castle to depose him, causing them to laugh at his ignorance.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: Aside from the obvious with the National Crows' Party in general, the finnish dub of the scene where Dolf proclaims himself emperor has several characters shouting "Heil Dolf!" at the same time.
  • Pet the Dog: Two redshirts see a young man drowning and immediately rush to save him, despite being pseudo-Nazis or at the very least willingly working for pseudo-Nazis.
  • Vague Age: Alfred and Dolf. Dolf looks adult and even has a mustache, while Alfred is adult size, and they're about the same age. However, Alfred is called a "boy", so how old Dolf actually is when he stages a coup?
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: This is the last time Alfred's charity project is referred to in any way, completely absent from season 2.
  • Your Size May Vary: Normally, Dolf is taller than Alfred. However this episode, particularly the scene where he speaks with the archbishop, depicts him as ridiculously miniscule, not even seeing over a normal office table without sitting on a chair.
