The episode opens with a Reedland soldier running from the waterfall (with no sight of Alfred and friends) to a military base where a frog general named Brüll is putting on medals. A bear soldier enters to inform him that they've just arrested a group that entered Reedland illegally. He asks how many, and is disbelieving/impressed when he hears that the group crossed the border by the river and survived.

Some kind of a flashback starts. Crashing through the waterfall, Alfred, Ollie, Henk, Rangpang, and sir Poen are launched into the air. Henk grabs onto Alfred's scarf when they fall into water, while Ollie and Igor take flight and barely avoid getting hit by the raft, and Rangpang leaps from the rocks into a tree. Ollie grabs sir Poen from the strong current, while Alfred and Henk are spinning underwater and Alfred is curcling aeound Henk to protect him. Alfred then manages to surface, but when he's shaking off the water, he notices that they've been srrounded by armed Reedland border guards.

Back in the military base, general Brüll comments that they were lucky and puts on his cap, saying that he's going to interrogate them personally. [[note]] For some reason, the english version opens with the waterfall scene and then jumps into general Brüll putting on his cap, completely omitting the brief scene before the waterfall and the bear's discussion with general Brüll[[/note]]. The bear takes him to a cell where Alfred and friends have been made to stand in a row, ordering the guard out and closing the cell door. General Brüll orders them to explain their intrusion, and Rangpang explains that while they may appear to be intruders they're in fact refugees, and general Brüll is surprised when Rangpang knows his name. Rangpang tells him he's famous, which pleases him. He asks Rangpang what are they fleeing from, and Rangpang explains that Dolf is just about to seize power in Waterland and had them arrested, but they managed to escape. General Brüll claims that he wasn't aware of such things going on in Waterland, and that something needs to be done. Alfred agrees but says that Waterland has to deal with it's own internal issues. Rangpang tells general Brüll that they would be grateful if they were allowed to stay in Reedland, but general Brüll says that the matter is out of his hands. However, he can get them an audience with Reedland's king. Rangpang thanks general Brüll, who wonders what's going to happen to Waterlands king, since Dolf can't just kill him. Right?

In the castle in Waterland, king Franz is solemnly standing in an elevator with the frog minister, asking if he's going to be executed now. The frog minister assures him that they're merely being exiled. At the bottom floor Dolf is looking around and asks Geppe how long will the castle's cleanup and redecoration take, Geppe answering that about a week and Dolf continuing that he needs a comfortable working space and that they need to begin as soon as possible. Franz's elevator then arrives, and he asks the frog minister if the bird is Dolf. The frog minister says yes and Franz walks up to Dolf, asking what is he expecting him to do. Dolf tells Franz that he can do whatever he wants, as long as he leaves the castle. Franz is confused, asking where he's going to sleep, and Dolf tells him he can sleep anywhere he wants. Franz asks if Dolf is going to live, sleep, and eat in the castle now, and Dolf explains that since Waterland's new government will be located in the castle, he will of course settle down in there himself. Franz tellshim that the castle is in need of repairs, and asks Dolf is he washes his hands with warm water. Dolf is confused, and Franz warns him that the hot water can come so quickly that he'll burn his hands. Dolf, Geppe, and the soldiers laugh at Franz, leaving him confused and angering the frog minister. Franz asks them what's and Dolf says that nothing, thanking Franz for the advice and leaving, telling him that he still has "important political solutions" to implement and tells a redshirt to escort Franz out. When Dolf's entourage has left the remaining redshirt tells Franz that he'll be escoting him, only for Franz to say that he doesn't need to bother since Franz knows the palace well, and it'll be the outside he's going to have difficulties with. Franz then walks away, leaving the redshirt standing there confused.

In the throne room a hymn is playing while Dolf walks between two rows of NCP redshirts, all standing at attention in the hand-on-the-heart salute. Dolf walks up the stairs to the throne where he declares himself emperor Dolf the first, and the redshirts throw their kepis in the air cheering, saluting and yelling "Dolf is leader!" while Dolf sits down on the throne and smiles wickedly.

In the middle of rocky nowhere, a small car suddendly stops and blows out smoke from the front, and the driver rushes out to examine as it lets out more smoke. Franz peers out of the window asking if the car is broken, and the driver tells him that it'll take at least half an hour. Franz accepts the situation and goes outside, where he wonders whether fleeing to Reedland is the right solution, and the frog minister asks if they even have a choice. Franz tells him that Reedland's king is his father's cousin and may be willing to help. He sits down on a rock and they watch the sunset,t the frog minister telling him that they aren't far away from the border. Franz admits to him that he regrets not taking politics much more seriously, and that Dolf's rise to power is propably his fault. The frog minister tears up and calls him "your majesty", but Franz tells him that he's no longer a king and he's just Franz now.

Next day at the Reedland military base Alfred, Henk, Ollie, Rangpang, sir Poen, and Igor have gotten a normal room, and are sitting at the table. Alfred says that he doesn't understand how Dolf was able to amass so much power so quickly, and Rangpang explains that it was very simple, because Dolf took advantage of societal turmoil, people accepted his fight against unemployment, and because he's a masterful orator. Alfred punches the table, yelling that the people don't understand that they're being deceived and that Dolf doesn't care about them at all, and once Dolf has all the power, he wil--

Alfred is interrupted when general Brüll enters, asking if they have come up with any plans to overthrow Dolf. Rangpang says no and Brüll calls it regrettable, telling them that Reedland's king wants to meet them at his castle.

In the Reedland royal castle, Reedland's king is talking to Franz, telling him he has summoned Alfred and the company to the castle and they should be there at any moment. Franz says that he was told NCP had arrested Rangpang and sir Poen, and Reedland's king explains that Alfred helped them escape. Franz is taken aback by Alfred's name and Reedland's king asks if Franz knows the guy, but Franz's explanation is interrupted when a soldier enters to announce sir Poen's and Rangpang's arrival.

Rangpang immediately notices Franz, and sir Poen is in shocked disbelief. They walk up, Reedland's kinng greets them, and Rangpang thanks him for granting them sanctuary. Reedland's king tells them it's nothing, saying that he opposes Dolf's coup and claiming that Reedland supports democracy. Rangpang and sir Poen approach Franz, not having been told that he's there. Franz is happy to see them, and tells him about Dolf marching on the castle. Sir Poen is still in disbelief, while Alfred steps up to address Franz who recognizes him, commenting that it's been a long time. Alfred tells Franz that all the money he returned immediately went to help the dry country. Franz tells Alfred that they're ashamed, and sir Poen tells Franz that he has already apologized to Alfred several times. Reedland's king asks what are they talking about, and Franzexplains his scam from episode 21, and Reedland's king judges him.

General Brüll arrives to tell them about Waterland's situation. Dolf's government has written a new law which requires that all people not members of the National Crows' Party have to hand half of their property over to the government. Everybody is shocked, Henk calling it shameful while sir Poen says that he's never heard about such an insane law. Alfred declares that he's sure the people will rise up to oppose the law, and sir Poen agrees that the people can't be silent.

In Waterland, Dolf is holding a televised speech in the castle's throne room. He says be has heard that there are some people opposed to the new law, saying that they're maging a big mistake. He says that if they love their money so much, they only need to join the NCP, since everybody knows that the people who join the NCP and support their policies will be allowed to keep their money. He concludes the speech with the hand-on-the-heart salute, shouting "Dolf is leader!". A small audience of redshirts claps, and one of them turns out a recording of thunderous applause.

In Reedland, sir Poen turns the television off, saying that Dolf will try to take the people's money by force. General Brüll says that there are intense fights all over Waterland at this very moment, and Henk says that it's to be expected. Alfed says that the NCP must already have a ton of money, and Rangpang agrees. Franz clears his throst and sir Poen brightens up to ask if he wants to say something. Franz talks about how when the royal family was in financial trouble he borrowed Alfred's money and was unable to pay it back, and despite his humiliation Franz learned that even royal families can't live without keeping their finances in order. The frog minister agrees and Franz continues that the same goes for Dolf - he used his inheritance monney to form the NCP and to gather members who all paid joining fees, and the collected fees brought Dolf success and standing amongst the rich. Rangpang says that it's exactly how it happened. Franz continues that money gets you power and status and that Dolf knows that he still needs much more money in order to stay in power, and that's why he created that infamous law in order to keep the money coming. Sir Poen tells Franz that his inferences are wise and that he's sure that everybody in the room agrees, and that Franz is very different from before. Franz asks him what he means and sir Poen apologises for talking so directly, but says that he thinks Franz has developed very much. Franz guesses that it's the experience that has made him grow. Alfred stands up and says that he agrees with Franz, guessing that Dolf has hidden all the money somewhere on the castle grounds. Rangpang says that if opposition to Dolf grows everywhere in Waterland, he's not going to gather such amounts again, and Alfred continues that once Dolf's money runs out he'll lose the rest of his popularity and all his power. Rangpang agrees, and general Brüll says that they need to find out where NCP's money is cached and steal it, and Alfred agrees they have no other options. Rangpang agrees, and Brüll suggests sending somebody back to Waterland to do it, and Alfred immediately volunteers, but Henk says that he's at the top of the NCP's blacklist and Ollie tells him it's too dangerous for him to return, but Alfred tells Ollie that it'd be just as dangerous for anybody else. Rangpang tells Alfred that he'll come with him, sure that everything will work out if they work together.

At the Waterland castle, the NCP leadership is having a fancy dinner while a violin orchestra and a piano play. A redshirt enters to whisper Dolf something, and Dolf tells Geppe that the archbishop and Waterland's church are going to take their side after all. Dolf tells the redshirt to inform the archbishop to wait in the hall and that he'll come after he finishes eating. The redshirt walks to the door bit Geppe orders him to wait, whispering Dolf that he should not meet the archbishop today. Dolf asks why, and Geppe reminds him of the way the archbishop acted previously, judging Dolf by his money and denying him support, yet wants to make up now that Dolf's victory is guaranteed. Dolf asks if it really guaranteed and how can Geppe know that, Geppe says that he just knows, and that's why they should now treat the archbishop coldly and scare him away today. Dolf doubts because the church is promising to take NCP's side, but Geppe tells him that everybody knows how unreliable the archbishop is and that they can't know if he'll stay on their side if king Franz were to regain his position of power. Dolf says that it'll never happen and Geppe assure him that he's sure it won't, but it's good to remember that if Franz returned to power it's certain that the archbishop would betray Dolf. Dolf tells the redshirt that the archbishop is suspicious and should go away, and Geppe tells Dolf that the archbishop will be back soon enough, and Dolf can meet him then. The archbishop will be happy, and Dolf will give him a small sum of money, as a "donation" of course, and that way they will get the church or at least the archbishop on their leash.

Some days later at the Waterland-Reedland border, general Brüll bids farewell to Alfred and Rangpang, who struggle to climb up the waterfall because the entire border is still heavily occupied and the waterfall is the only unguarded way.

Unknown amount of time later, Alfred and Rangpang arrive in Polderstadt. The city is full of redshirts, forcing Alfred and Henk to climb fences and sneak through alleys. Alfred wonders what's going on and why are there NCP soldiers everywhere, and Rangpang explains that they're on the lookout for riots, which is very bad for them. Alfred wonders what can they do now, this way they won't even get close to the castle.

Two NCP redshirts are walking down a street when they suddendly hear somebody screaming for help and follow the voice to a canal, where Alfred is drowning. They tell Alfred to swim towards them, but when Alfred dissappears underwater, they throw away their clothes and weapons and jump in the canal to get him. However, once they reach him Alfred suddendly jumps out of the water, over them, and speeds back to the path, where Rangpang is coming down from a tree and gathering up the redshirts' clothes. The redshirts, still in the water, can only yell after Alfred and Rangpang as they run away.

Later a group of children are playing in the street when they notice Alfred and Rangpang walking past in the redshirt uniforms, and Rangpang's is way too small. The children start staring and following them down the street. Alfred worries that they'll draw even more attention like this, but Rangpang wants to keep trying to act normal. They see two redshirts standing guard at a crossroad which makes Alfred nråervous, but they can't turn around and Rangpang tells him they're going to turn the other way. One of the children asks if they're from the NCP, and Alfred answers that of course they are. Alfred and Rangpang turn the corner with the children on their tail abd start walking away from the redshirts, but the bird starts looking at them. Alfred tells Rangpang that they're in trouble and Rangpang suddendly turns aroud, the children almost running into him, and does the hand-on-the-heart salute with the words "Dolf is justice". This causes his sleeve to snap, making the children laugh. The two redshirts run over scaring the children off, and the bird yells at Rangpang for playing with children and tells the two to hurry up. When Alfred and Rangpang are confused, he yells at them for forgetting that the castle guards were supposed to convene at the marketplace, and when they're still congused the bird yells more and points the way to the marketplace where three trucks and several redshirts have gathered. At evening, the three trucks drive through Polderstadt while crowds watch, Alfred and Rangpang in one of the trucks fearfully imitating the redshirts' chant "Dolf is the leader!"

In the castle, a large group of people are picketing and yelling "Down with Dolf!" in front of the gate with the redshirt guards just standing in a row in front of them and not doing anything. The archbishop arrives in a car driven by a redshirt and the guards quickly part the crowd for them. The archbihop watches the struggling and yelling protesters, and then the car crosses the bridge.

The archbishop waits in Dolf's office and is startled by the door when Dolf enters with Geppe, Dolf apologising for leaving him waiting. The archbishop shakes hands with Dolf, saying that it's no problem since he's understandably busy when there's a protest going on in front of the castle. Dolf then goes to his desk, calmly commenting that it's a constant siege out there. The archbishop suggests that it's due to the new law, and Dolf calls the law is radical and it was obvious that it'd be opposed in "certain circles". However Dolf reminds the archbishop that the law doesn't apply to the church and he must know it, and the archbishop tells him that the church's state is very worrying. Dolf tells him that they're ready to donate one hundred gold coins to repair the church, and the archbishop perks up. Dolf tells him that he supports the church and wishes for the church to support the NCP. The archbishop says that he doesn't know yet so Dolf tells him to discuss with the NCP's treasurer, who turns out to be Geppe, promising that he'll give him the money today and then leaving the room alone.

Meanwhile the trucks arrive at the castle, taking the protestors by surprise. The redshirts pour out armed with long wooden staves and attack the protesters, while Afred and Rangpang stay behind for a moment, Rangpang shocked and Alfred telling him that it's their opportunity to sneak into the castle. They try to move through the crowd, but Rangpang gets caught up in the fight, Alfred is trampled, and they're unable to move forwards.

However the trucks arrive and redshirts pour out armed with staves, attacking the protesters.

Unknown amount of time later,
regime now. Alfred and Rangpang arrive in Polderstadt.

However, once they reach him Alfred suddendly jumps out of the water, over them, and speeds
back to Polderstad on a mission to rob the path, where Rangpang is coming down from a tree and gathering up the redshirts' clothes.

!! Continues from De Slag Om Polderstadt (Escape From The Crows Party)

!! Tropes:

* ANaziByAnyOtherName: Aside from the obvious with the National Crows' Party in general, the finnish dub of the scene where Dolf proclaims himself emperor has several characters shouting "Heil Dolf!" at the same time.
* ChestOfMedals: General Brüll.
* CliffHanger: Alfred and Rangpang are caught up in the fight between the redshirsts and the protestors in front of the castle.
* CorruptChurch: Having previously been open to dealing with [[ANaziByAnyOtherName the NCP]] and only rejected them because they didn't give him money, the archbishop of Waterland now enters into a deal with Dolf and gets paid one hundred for it.
* DubNameChange:
** The finnish dub renames general Brüll "general Kurnu", which refers to the word for croaking.
** The finnish dub calls Broad Reedland "Suurvesimaa" ("Great Waterland"), which is Waterland's english name. It's made more confounding because Waterland's finnish name is still "Vesimaa", which literally means "waterland".
* FurryReminder: Alfred swims like a normal duck instead of like a human.
* ManChild: King Franz still doesn't comprehend the situation when Dolf and the NCP march on the castle to depose him, causing them to laugh at his ignorance.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: This is the last time Alfred's charity project is referred to in any way, completely absent from season 2.
* HollywoodDrowning: Alfred does this. Justified since he was pretending and the entire point was to attract attention and lure some redshirts over there.
* HighClassGlass: Rangpang is still wearing his while disguised as an NCP redshirt, which is somehow not suspicious.
* GoneSwimmingClothesStolen: When Alfred tricks two NCP redshirts into stripping and jumping into a canal, Alfred and Rangpang run off with their uniforms.
* DressingAsTheEnemy: Alfred and Rangpang use stolen NCP uniforms to travel through Polderstadt. Unforeseeably, it gets them sent directly to the castle with actual redshirts to fight protestors and act as castle guards.
* PetTheDog: Two redshirts see a young man drowning and immediately rush to save him, despite being [[ANaziByAnyOtherName pseudo-Nazis}] or at the very least willingly working for pseudo-Nazis.
* VagueAge: Alfred and Dolf. Dolf looks adult and even has a mustache, while Alfred is adult size, and they're about the same age. However, Alfred is called a "boy", so how old Dolf actually is when hestages a coup?
* TheCoup: The NCP marches on the castle and seizes power in the episode's beginning.
* TheExile: King Franz and one of his ministers flee to the neighboring Reedland once Dolf seizes power in Waterland.
* YouSizeMayVary: Normally, Dolf is taller than Alfred. However this episode, particularly the scene where he speaks with the archbishop, depicts him as ridiculously miniscule, not even seeing over a normal office table without sitting on a chair.
